Mitchell Powerhouse and Dam is a historic structure located in Mitchell, Iowa.

On the west side of Mitchell, along the Cedar River, the area was developed into a processing and manufacturing area, and its mills were powered by the river's current.

However, they all became obsolete & closed around the turn of the 20th century.

The powerhouse is a single-story structure composed of rock faced limestone that was laid in a random ashlar pattern.

The Mitchell County Conservation Board acquired the dam, the powerhouse, and the adjacent land. In 1963 it was turned into a public park.

In 1978 the Powerhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cedar River reflecting an almost mirror image of Autumn's changing colors. Northern Iowa has had amazingly incredible warm 70'sĀ° weather for several days. The trees leaves are falling fast now. Some leaves are even visibly floating down the river.

I was fortunate enough to have just spent 3 days in the Hills of Eagle Bluff, Lanesboro, Fillmore Co Mn.

The landscape view was as if an artist had painted it for our viewing. Which had me do some deep pondering thinking as we hiked 7 miles through a river path view.

God sure enough knew what he was doing when he created all the beautiful colors of Autumn. With the vast hues of dark and bright reds, burnt and cheerful oranges, vibrant yellows, light and dark browns, and multiple shades of green.

When Autumn comes and its time for leaves, bushes and grass to die, we all celebrate the beauty of summers death. Because, we know that we can look forward to the vibrant colors of spring, and new life.

Which is a simple reminder for us here on Earth that, this can relate to our human life as well. With life comes death and after death we are promised by God, a beautiful life.

Those who believe in God, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in God will never die.

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life."
