Driving north into southern Maine?
If you don't have either NH EZpass or Maine EZpass, a 25-mile stretch of Interstate-95 costs $6 in tolls and that will increase to $8 in January 2027.

2026: $2 Hampton + $4 York
2027: $4 Hampton + $4 York

That can be far less if you have state-issued EZ Pass ransponders from both NH & Maine. NH & Maine both charge out-of-state EZ Pass holders the equivalent cash rate.

If you have both a ME transponder
and a NH transponder
2027: $1.40 Hampton + $0.75 York
NH Ez-pass transponder is available to anyone, not just NH residents. Cost for a sticker-type transponder is less than $1 and hardshell transponder is $6.69. Requires minimum account deposit of $30.00.

Maine EZ Pass transponder is available to anyone, not just ME residents. Cost for a sticker-type transponder is $5 and hardshell transponder is $15. Requires minimum account deposit of $20.00.

Migrating from the Canon EF lens mount to RF
to upgrade all my lenses at the same time would be prohibitively expensive. One of the old lenses that I kept was EF 17-40 mm which works fine on the new R camera using EF-to-RF converter. This year, I bought an RF wide zoom lens to replace it.

Aerial drones & avoiding wildfires

In a FB discussion among drone pilots (sUAS pilots), someone asked about temporary flight restriction (TFR) due to wildfire. While the boundary of the specific TFR was clear on a map, there is separately a FAA general advisory for any/all fires: stay 15 mi away.

Cardboard boat race at Salem Massachusetts last weekend. The event had a limited number of entries (I believe it was 40). Those slots filled up within a few days - first come, first served.
