Sometimes you just have to go where the wind takes you... literally.
Matalina Diaz came all the way from Grand Junction, Colorado for her senior session to do photos in a place that has always been like "home" to her, and she could not have been more easygoing.
Nebraska welcomed her with what felt like hurricane-force winds, but she rolled with every bit of it. And thankfully, the sun decided to show up too.
She looks absolutely beautiful, windblown hair and all.
But this session also feels like a good time for a little photographer PSA.
July and August have given us some rough photography weather. Extreme heat, crazy humidity, storms, wind, and less-than-ideal light have made several sessions much more challenging behind the scenes.
When I tell you that I think we should reschedule, I promise I'm not being picky. I'm looking at the end result.
Can we shoot in crazy wind? Absolutely. Can I fix flyaways? Yep. Can I work with difficult light, sweaty faces, humidity, blemishes, and all the little things you may notice about yourself? Of course. That's part of my job, and I spend a lot of time carefully editing those details because I want you to LOVE your photos.
But all of that also adds significant editing time, which is one reason turnaround has been a little longer after this wild stretch of summer sessions.
So if I recommend rescheduling because conditions aren't ideal, trust me. I want to give you the best possible experience in front of the camera and after it.
And then sometimes you're Mattie, you've traveled hundreds of miles, the wind has other plans, and we say... let's do this.
And somehow, a little Nebraska sunshine, a gorgeous senior, and a whole lot of wind make their own kind of magic. 🤍
More to come from Miss Mattie's Ogallala session with little nods to her love of her grandparents and great-grandparents.
