Brides, if you don’t like certain angles of yourself, certain poses or even if you don’t like your face when you aren’t smiling, these are all things that you should be able to express comfortably with your photographer and not feel guilty about it. As a wedding photographer, OF COURSE I have a vision. I can literally look at a bride for maybe 5 minutes and know exactly what angles will make her look the best, what poses she’d look amazing in, all of that. Kind of like a makeup artist can look at your face and know what makes you look the best to THEIR style. But of course, like with all things, you want to feel like yourself still. You have certain things about you that you know you don’t like.

So when I walk into a room, I make sure I’m establishing that connection, vibe, and open energy so that my couples can feel so comfortable with telling me how they actually feel. And know I won’t be offended by their requests.

If you tell me that you’ve never taken photos before and I’m the first photographer you’ve ever worked with, it’s literally music to my ears. Where many people might think I would *prefer* someone who hasn’t ever been photographed before, it’s actually quite the opposite. Because when you have someone who is treading new territory, you get the purest and most excited version of them. A lot of times, people who are constantly photographed know what they like and what they don’t like and they limit the reach of the photographer because they have bad experiences with previous ones. Which is so understandable. But if I wasn’t the one who hurt you, let me be the one to show you that you really do look beautiful on all sides, angles, lighting, locations etc - it just takes the right person to show you how to work it!!!!

20 minutes of straight clowning condensed into 1.5 minutes lol 💀 I love being a wedding photographer in this generation because a lot of my couples are either the same age as me or a little bit younger and it’s SO fun to work with them. They have the best personalities, the best attitudes and they just genuinely have a great time during our session 😭 moments like these really make my job so fun 🤍

You guys are flooding my DMs with questions about what camera I use so I wanted to share this video with you!!!! You don’t need the most amazing and high end cameras to create amazing art. You really have to have the eye and to be confident in yourself and what you’re shooting. But, it definitely helps to have tools that produce a better image overall for your couple to print, share, or even blow up on a billboard if they wanted to. Who knows! So this is some of my go to main gear that I’ve shot almost all of my photos with & I bring with me to smaller sessions like this lake session for an engagement shoot 🤍🦢

When I saw that staircase that went 3 stories up, something inside of me screamed “you need to get that shot.” And that’s part of being a creative photographer is that you want to get the coolest angles, the most unique perspectives, and to allow more context to the story. It adds so much to a wedding gallery for couples to look back on. So sometimes having a vision means you have to climb buildings, do dangerous things, and even risk the integrity of your gear to get the shot 🫣
