I recently saw a photographer recently post that you shouldn’t book a photographer who isn’t posting frequently on social media. And honestly, I disagree.
Capturing your memories is incredibly important to me because I know just how quickly children grow and how much these moments matter. At the same time, one of the ways I stay present in my own life and with my own children is by limiting my time on social media - including for my business.
The truth is, I tend to show up and post when I’m a little slower, when I’m feeling super excited about what I’ve done, or whenever I just have a moment to breathe between my own chaos. When life gets full, social media is often one of the first things I put on the back burner. Sometimes maintaining a healthy work-life balance means stepping away from the constant pressure to create content and focusing on the things right in front of me.
How often I post isn’t a reflection of the experience I provide, the care I give my clients, or how much I value my business. My clients are incredibly important to me, and I pour my heart into every session, every gallery, and every family who trusts me to document their memories.
If someone chooses not to book me because I don’t post every day, that’s completely okay. But I don’t believe a photographer’s worth, talent, or dedication can be measured by their social media activity.
