Was asked to do another surprised engagement session. To fit the groom's schedule we had to shoot in harsh mid-day light with a 65% chance of rain. Thank the lord the rain held off until after the session. What a lovely christian couple to work with! She said YES!

As promised, complete GSMNP trip write up! All bear photos captured on a Canon R5mk2 with my RF600mm, RF600 + 1.4 TC = 840mm, or RF600 + 2.0 TC for 1200mm, and taken from a safe distance.

Another great morning in Cades Cove Monday 6/22/26. Arrived at the gate 5:50 AM. They opened the gate at 6:18 am. Didn't see a single bear on my first loop, but next two loops were very productive. 17 total bears. Mostly Sows and yearlings. One mom had 4 cubs, but grass is so tall that no clear cub shots today. Tomorrow is a hike day, Wednesday I have a pair of E-Bikes rented, so I am really looking forward to the Cove with no cars!

Friday 6/19/26 eight more black bears found and photographed. Details of each in the photo descriptions.

Cades Cove, 2 loops in 3 hours. Started in a light rain and I think that helped keep the traffic down.

We have been in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park GSMNP for a couple days now. Yesterday was a retail therapy day for Miss Sharon.

6/18/26: Thursday. This morning I woke up about 40 minutes late. Had my alarm set for 5:30 PM instead of AM. DUH!

Grabbed me gear and headed up the mountain. Got to Cade's Cove at 7:25 and there was already plenty of cars in my way. I found 9 bears. Mostly sows and yearlings. Found one mom with a new cub, but heavy cover and no clear photos. I also found the single cub with no mom that people have been talking about. It was just sleeping in the grass and no chance at a clear photo.

The mom sleeping in the tree with her 2 cubs was shot at 600mm. The one of just the mom was shot at 1200mm and cropped. Additional details in the photo descriptions.

Stormed a little this evening, guessing back to the Cove in the morning.

So super proud of Miss Shelby on completing her Bachelor of Arts from Culver Stockton College. She made the honor roll all four years while playing college softball!
