Did you know?

The connection between pin-up photography and the U.S. military actually goes back to World War II. During the war, pin-up photos became incredibly popular with American soldiers overseas because they reminded them of home.

Photos of glamorous women were pinned inside lockers, tucked into helmets, painted onto aircraft, and printed in military magazines to help boost morale during some of the hardest moments of the war.

But what many people don’t realize is that soldiers often connected most with photos of “everyday women” — not just Hollywood stars. Wives. Girlfriends. Women who felt familiar, warm, and real.

In many ways, that era helped shape modern glamour and bo***ir photography as we know it today. The idea that beautiful portraits weren’t just for celebrities or professional models — but could celebrate everyday women too — really grew during that time.

A lot of the styling we still love today traces back to that era: victory rolls, dramatic lighting, red lips, high-waisted fashion, black & white portraits, and cinematic imagery inspired by old Hollywood glamour.

This Memorial Day, we’re remembering the brave men and women who served our country, and especially honoring those who never made it home. 🤍
