🚨 Update on the Blue Angels "Breakfast with the Blues" Incident 🚨

Big news out of NAS Pensacola regarding the low pass during Wednesday’s "Breakfast with the Blues" event.

After a swift safety review conducted by the U.S. Navy, it has been confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against the pilots involved.

What happened: During the squadron's arrival at Pensacola Beach, one F/A-18 Super Hornet flew significantly lower than standard profiles, creating a powerful wake and thrust that sent beach gear flying among spectators.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Official Word: Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao closed the review with a clear message: "Flight debrief complete. No reprimands. No firings. No problem."

The Blue Angels emphasized that safety remains their absolute highest priority and they have utilized this incident for a thorough internal review.

The team remains on schedule and is ready to put on a world-class performance for the Pensacola Beach Air Show this Saturday!

Who is heading out to the beach this weekend to see them fly?

One of the coolest small airshows that’s not so small anymore!! Make sure to get tickets to see the Rose City Airfest! Worth the drive for sure if you’re coming from out of town!

Rose City Airfest fans, we heard you loud and clear!

This year, we’re bringing more jet noise back to Tyler.

Last year’s shutdown put a few of the fast movers in a holding pattern, but this year the skies are clear, and the throttle will be wide open. 😎

Get ready for more speed, more roar, and more reason to look up at Rose City Airfest!

So last week was my birthday and I turned 51. I sat at a hotel bar the night before by myself reflecting on life. What I’ve done. Where I’ve been. The good and the bad. I also have this photo hanging in my office of a P-51 Mustang showing off the reflection of an early sunrise on the polished aluminum from back in 2015. So 51…reflections…some commonality (if you really stretch it). I’m sure this plane has been to a lot of places and done a lot of amazing things in its life (just a tad bit older than me). Hoping to get in some airshows this year, but for now I’ll do some more reflecting on some of the awesome airshows I have been to!

Not everything I photograph is aviation related. This was looking through a broken door to an abandoned school somewhere in West Texas during a 2,500 mile road trip a couple of years ago. I didn’t venture further in the building since the floor was rotted away. But it did make me wonder how many students walked those halls over the decades and the lives impacted by the teachers who worked there.

80 years ago today, the United States Navy Blue Angels were formed. The dedication of the men and women who maintain, fly, and handle a massive logistics load week after week along the airshow circuit is second to none. Hoping to catch them again this year, but for now enjoy this photo showing that dedication of a ground crew member while his jet departs in the background.

Time to wake the neighbors and get this Monday morning started!! You can just hear the roar from this pass of Blue Angel 7 as he pulls up from his high speed pass in front of the crowd at 2024!

Bringing you a sunrise from somewhere out in the Caribbean to start your Easter Sunday with. This was one of those early mornings I got up to walk the cruise ship and watch the sunrise. The first few minutes with the dark clouds low on the horizon look kind of doom and gloom, but then as the sun starts peeking over the top you get to see all of the beauty the rest of the day is about to bring. Maybe that’s what today should be about…look for that sunrise and find the beauty in the day. Happy Easter everyone…

It’s a pretty sunrise (and a pretty plane!) to start your Good Friday with. This immaculate F6F Hellcat was spotted at 2021 during the sunrise photo tour. I was fortunate to get a spot in the tour and to be in the right place at the right time for this shot! Wishing everyone a Good Friday and Happy Easter from down in Southeast Texas!
