TWIC EAST: A NEW GENERATION IS RISING, BUILT ON THE SACRIFICES OF OUR ELDERS! ❤️🇸🇸
Every generation has its time, its responsibility, and its story to write. Today, Twic East is beginning a new chapter, one that calls not for conflict between the young and the old, but for a beautiful transition built on love, respect, gratitude, and hope for the future.
To our fathers, grandfathers, and the generation that came before us, we bow our heads in honour. You went to the bush when our nation was still a dream. You sacrificed your youthful years, endured suffering, faced uncertainty, and fought for the freedom and dignity of our people. You carried the burden of a nation on your shoulders, and you have remained in leadership through difficult chapters of our history.
We will never forget your sacrifices. We are who we are today because you refused to give up on the dream of a country we could call our own.
Dear elders, you took us to school because you wanted us to have a brighter future. You invested in our education, even when resources were limited. You wanted us to become doctors, engineers, scholars, administrators, and leaders who could take our communities to the next level.
Today, some of those children you sent to school have returned with PhDs, master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and professional qualifications. We have grown, not because we are better than you, but because you gave us the opportunity to become what you may not have had the chance to become.
And now, with humility and deep respect, we say to you: Our fathers, you have carried the torch for a long time. Please allow us to carry it forward, guided by your wisdom and strengthened by your experience.
You deserve to watch your grandchildren grow, enjoy the fruits of your sacrifices, tell us the stories of our struggle, and advise us when the road becomes difficult. Your place in our history is permanent. No change in leadership can erase your contribution, and no new generation can rewrite the sacrifices that brought us this far.
Leadership transition is not a rejection of our elders; it is a continuation of their legacy.
Twic East has begun writing this new story, with the election of Deng Jr marking a moment that many see as a symbol of generational transition. Let this moment inspire a wider conversation about leadership, opportunity, and the future of our communities.
May we embrace this transition with maturity. Let the young never mistake opportunity for superiority, and let the old never mistake change for disrespect. We need the wisdom of our elders and the energy, education, and fresh ideas of our young people.
Our elders laid the foundation with their blood, sweat, courage, and sacrifices. Our responsibility is to build upon that foundation not to destroy it. We must use the education they fought to give us to create opportunities, strengthen our institutions, serve our people, and build a better South Sudan for the generations yet to come.
To every elder who sacrificed their youth for this nation: your story is our history, your sacrifice is our inheritance, and your wisdom will always be our compass.
To every young person who has acquired an education: let your qualifications be measured not by the titles you carry, but by the lives you improve and the positive change you bring to your community.
And to Twic East, may this new chapter unite rather than divide us. Let us prove that a community can honour its past while courageously embracing its future.
The time has come for experience to guide ambition, for wisdom to nurture innovation, and for one generation to hand the torch to another without losing the bond that holds us together.
The elders gave us the dream. They educated us to understand the dream. Now, let us work together to turn that dream into reality.
May Twic East lead by example. May South Sudan find strength in peaceful generational transitions. And may the young and the old stand together in building a nation where our children will have even greater opportunities than we have today.
