I have always loved weddings that feel like they belong at the estate where they’re being held.

When we were planning this editorial at Cherokee Dock, I kept coming back to the idea that it should feel as though it had always existed there. The vintage china, garden florals, candlelight, citrus, and soft colors all felt right at home on the porch of one of Nashville’s most iconic estates.

A little colorful, a little romantic, and a reminder that timeless doesn’t have to mean all white!

Madilyn and Garrett on film at Biltmore.

I’ve photographed at Biltmore many times throughout my years as a wedding photographer, but there is something about Biltmore on film that feels especially timeless, especially when it’s for a couple like Madilyn and Garrett.

Not only have I known Madilyn since she was a little girl, but her mom, Michelle, has been one of my trusted second photographers for weddings in North Carolina for nearly a decade. Michelle first started shooting with me in 2016 and if I photographed your wedding in North Carolina over the last several years, there’s a good chance she was right by my side.

When Madilyn and Garrett got engaged this spring, Michelle immediately reached out to ask if I would photograph their engagement session and of course my answer was yes.
It was such a joy to document this season for them and I can’t wait to celebrate alongside them this July!

The Hurts!

For a wedding weekend that was forecasted with a 100% chance of rain God truly smiled on Meg & Conner’s day and gave us little breaks in the weather exactly when we needed them.

Under the expert planning of their day couldn’t have been more beautiful. Meg’s grandfather married them in the garden at Belle Meade and the final burst of rain came through at the most perfectly timed moment during his sermon.

Cocktail hour on the patio was a lovely start to the night before guests entered the reception tent softly draped and awash in pink. They ended the night dancing to the tunes of @ before making a classic getaway in a 1970s Rolls Royce- truly the most beautiful celebration for one of the sweetest couples I know.

Kai- it is so hard to believe that today marks one year of knowing you and one year of being your mom.

I’ll never forget this day last year when they first laid you on my chest, your little body melted into mine and as I gazed at you, I knew I was looking at my greatest life’s purpose.

This year of being your mom has been transformative! I’ve told your dad this many times, but when your were born it was like I went from seeing the world in black and white to seeing the world in technicolor. I love seeing the world through your eyes and seeing the excitement and joy you greet each new day with.

We have said it from day one, but I will say it again today- you have the loveliest personality! You are so sweet and fun, with the best sense of humor and love for laughing over silly things. You have the best smile and cutest dimples- I love the way your eyes light up when you are doing something you think is fun. You are also so strong and you know what you want- daddy and I will fight hard to keep you this way- even if the world tells you you need to shrink yourself or be small- because you are perfect just the way God made you. You carry a deep light within you- one that people have noticed in you since you were first born. I know that you are going to do incredible things far beyond we could ever imagine.

I will do my best to teach you everything of value that I know- though I know you will probably teach me more than I can ever teach you. I will do my best to make your childhood fun and magical because that’s what you deserve! I will do my best every single day to show you the huge amount of joy and happiness you have brought into mine and your daddy’s life because we are completely crazy about you!

I will always be in your corner encouraging you in your dreams and helping you when things maybe go differently than you thought they would. You will ALWAYS be my best girl ever! Happy 1st Birthday sweet pea!
