Twelve people. Multiple generations. One session that somehow came together perfectly.

Okay, let's talk about THIS sky for a second.

This was late in the session at Belle Isle; the clouds were doing the most, the conservatory dome was right there, and we just went for it.

This is why I keep pushing seniors (and their parents!) to book before October. The light, the weather, the backdrop — fall gives you every possible advantage for outdoor portraits.

There is something about fall light that makes everything look like a painting.

This family came in coordinated head to toe: burgundy, rust, tan. The foliage did the rest. Dad, mom, a toddler who was very interested in the leaves, and a young boy who brought the energy. We sat down in the grass and just let it happen.

This is the session I love most. No pressure, no poses that feel stiff, just a family being themselves while I document it.

Fall family sessions are still available but October fills fast. Once we hit the back half of the month, outdoor conditions get unpredictable and there are fewer windows for great light.

This is Breezy.

At Capture a Moment Photography, I talk a lot about why photos matter. This is the one that taught me the most.

There's something about that last hour of sunlight in late September.

Wildflowers, tall grass, warm backlight, and a senior who owned every minute of it. This is exactly why we chase golden hour. It softens everything and makes the whole field glow.

Fall came in hard this year, and honestly, good.

This is one of my favorite fall sessions. We found a leaf-covered path with a wooden footbridge and a canopy of yellow trees that looked like Michigan hired a lighting designer. Red plaid, grey pants, clean Nikes. The whole thing just clicked.

Senior season is in full swing right now, and this is exactly the kind of atmosphere you get when you book while fall is at its absolute best. The color, the light, the mood...it is all right here in our own backyard.

Class of 2027, if you have been waiting for a sign, this is it. Fall sessions fill from both ends, and once October hits, the weather becomes less predictable. The sweet spot is right now.
