Do you ever have days where you’re happy/sad?

Like, you can be so happy and grateful that God has blessed you with a beautiful, healthy family and yet, you’re sad because the time feels like it’s just slipped right out of your fingers?

I’ve been having a lot of those moments lately.. constantly scrolling through the photos on my phone. Looking at pictures of my kids and our family over the years. It makes me happy and sad at the same time.

This life sees to happen in a blink of an eye.

Take the photos. Squeeze your kids tight. Love on your people. And enjoy every second of it.

There’s a moment in the newborn days that almost no one talks about.

Not the announcement. Not the name. Not even the first night home.

It’s the pause.

When the house is quiet, the baby finally settles, and you look at each other like “Did this really just happen?”

These are the moments I photograph.

The in-between ones.

The ones that don’t ask to be posed or perfected.

Dad’s hand instinctively supporting a head that feels impossibly small.

A baby who has only been here for days, yet already belongs in every moment.

In-home newborn sessions aren’t about props or perfection.

They’re about preserving the way this season felt before it changes (because it will).

Last year, I was fortunate to have good weather for 99% of my sessions (knock on wood)! 🌸

But would you believe me if I told you that this session started with torrential downpour and somehow we ended up getting a pocket of time to get Amelia’s senior photos done, just to end our session running to the car in another downpour?

The sun never came out, but I’ll be honest, I’m glad it didn’t! These photos turned out beautiful! ☁️

3 things to consider for an engagement session:

1. Are there any sentimental locations where you’d like to have your photos taken?

2. What season do you prefer? (Warmth and greens in the summer, Fall foliage, bright whites in the winter, etc.)

3. When are you sending invitations to your guests? (Give enough time for turnaround after your session, so you’re not rushed getting invites sent out)
