Hey ya'll and good morning!
Tomorrow is day 1 of Little Scholar's Fall Pictures and I'm looking forward to seeing my babies along with some new faces!!! Just a couple of tidbits of information I want to pass along before tomorrow morning. (Some things I have addressed before but I know there are some new parents who may see this.)
*Please let the daycare staff know if you do or don't want sweaters or jackets in the photos. Sometimes we're not sure if it's part of the ensemble or not. Also between me and the staff, we will do our best to ensure that shoes are tied, bows are tied, and clothes are looking neat. There's usually someone on hand with wipes to clean noses and faces before the children get in front of the camera
*PLEASE refrain from calling, texting, or inboxing me or other staff members regarding when the pictures will be ready. This has become a major problem as people have called my personal number late at night or early in the morning. Depending on how many children are taking pictures, the usual turnaround time for this time of year is 10-14 business days, however, I try my best to have them as quickly as possible and send off for the physical prints ASAP.
*Daycare photos are not like photoshoots that happen in the studio. I have maybe 2 minutes to capture the best image I can of each child before moving on to the next. If a child is upset and crying, I will usually try one more time to get their picture.
*Children are unpredictable. Yes, they may smile at home with you and your family but to them, I'm an unfamiliar face working with big scary unfamiliar equipment. It can be A LOT for them.
*At the moment, I'm not able to send out proofs. It is a little more time-conducive to pick out the best pictures of the bunch and edit all of them together at the same time instead of editing 2 or 3 here and maybe 4 there. Please please please TRUST in me that I am picking out the best image out of the bunch.
*When going through images to choose which is best, I'm making sure that the picture is of the utmost quality. Meaning that the picture is in focus, it's as centered as it can possibly be, no arms or legs or parts of the head are cut off, and your child is looking as pleasant as possible. Smiling pictures are not always guaranteed.
*Lastly, these pictures are memories to have of your child. They are only little for this long. You will want to remember their smiley faces along with their grumpy faces and their confused faces and their irritated faces and their hungry faces and their "I have gas" faces. It is absolutely unreasonable to expect perfection out of children who have only been on this earth for 4 years or less.
And before I end this already too long post, I say this with all the love and care that I possess in my body, these pictures are absolutely VOLUNTARY. Your child is not required to take pictures on picture day. If you feel that you don't trust my judgement when it comes to taking pictures or if you feel that I am not trying my best to make your child smile, then by all means you do not have to send them dressed for pictures. You are more than welcome to book a studio session for your child where they will have my undivided attention for 30-45 minutes.
