Week 22 - On The Ground

Can we just take a second to talk about how big of a deal high school graduation is? I know you seniors are ready to move on — but you’ve been working toward this moment since you were 4 years old. FOUR. That deserves to be celebrated in a big way! A cap and gown session is my favorite way to honor that journey and give you photos that remind you of this season forever. You’ve earned it.

Senior Sunday: Cap & Gown Edition

Cap and gown sessions are some of my favorites, they are always so celebratory. How can you not have fun when there is confetti involved (in fact, there is still a ton of confetti in my wagon from this session)?!

Week 20 - Meaningful Location

It was graduation weekend for my youngest, so I went early to take some cap and gown images for her and her friends. They had a snafu getting to me at the Jefferson Memorial, and then I got stuck in a motorcade (typical DC) getting back to them, so we had exactly 7 minutes to take photos before the middle school tour groups showed up. We made it work!

The Shape of Motion
I have tried this multiple times over the years with varying degrees of success. This was for sure my best effort! I got a little overconfident in Evoto’s backdrop tools, though, and wish I had steamed my backdrop before we started! All the wrinkles showed through the motion blur bits and make editing very tricky!

I definitely want to do this again once I get my studio set up, so if you are a dancer of any sort and you would be willing to come and dance for me, let me know!

This season is all about slowing down and capturing the in-between: the laugh you didn’t plan, the confidence you’re still growing into, the version of you right before everything shifts.
