Almost a year to the day marked a sunny October 24th revisit to the abandoned asbestos mine in Eden/Lowell, Vermont, aka The Vermont Asbestos Group. Despite being on the back end of the foliage, the brownish landscape ironically mimics the rusty surfaces; you could almost say the timing was perfect!
At one time, over 300 workers called this company home until the "miracle material" was permanently banned from sale in the U.S., forcing the mine to close in 1993. VAG was the largest operating asbestos mine in U.S.
I would like to thank the owner for granting me permission to access. Please note, as per the owner: "Permission is needed to access the property in any capacity, and entering the property without permission, and entering any of the buildings or equipment on the property, is prohibited."
