XV — The Devil

The Devil represents temptation, excess, obsession, and the invisible chains we sometimes willingly place around ourselves. He does not need to force or imprison us—his power exists in desire, greed, pleasure, addiction, status, and everything we convince ourselves we cannot live without. The treasures surrounding him promise fulfillment, yet those who surrender completely to them eventually become possessions themselves. The Devil asks an uncomfortable question: do you control your desires, or have your desires begun to control you?

XIV — Temperance

Temperance represents balance, patience, and the art of bringing different forces together in harmony. It reminds us that life rarely requires extremes; often, the greatest strength lies in knowing how much to give, how much to hold back, and when to allow things to unfold naturally. The flowing water symbolizes this constant exchange—the blending of emotion, experience, and intention into something greater than its separate parts. Temperance asks us to find the middle path, where opposing forces stop competing and begin working together.

Death represents transformation, endings, and the inevitable passage from one state of being into another.
