What is up with GoPro??? According to Bloomberg, Nick Woodman is on the lookout for a buyer (https://bloom.bg/2BEZ1Aw).
Of course, GoPro did not realize what customers want, but these product plagiarisms are a big problem. That's going to break Gopro's neck. A handfull chinese copymachines make a lot of trouble, even not every chinese Company is that bad, it gave a wrong imprssion about a whole nation.
There are many reasons why GoPro has to blame itself, but one thing is clear: GoPro paved the way for all the copycat machines from China that are not the slightest bit innovative; we thus got hundreds of cheap GoPro copies... and our "cheap is cool" mentality is also partly to blame.
GoPro often didn't understand its customers or didn't know what was is demand, and there is no question about that. Many people consider GoPro to be pretentious and arrogant, and that is true to a certain degree. Cheap knock-offs are to blame for a great deal of GoPro's misery. And we often experience the same thing. For example, our Cobra is being copied by a Chinese company from Shenzhen, because they are too dumb to come up with their own ideas. Of course, it's all right to expand upon other people's ideas, but they cannot even manage that. All they can do is incompetently make bad copies.
Not only is it making millions of GoPro knock-offs – most of which are cheap – Eken, has the nerve to copy our Cobra mount. We'll admit being copied is a bit flattering. But the people who buy the copies are the real dummies. This product costs 4.90 euros in Shenzhen, and customers over here are getting duped: They pay up to 25 or 30 USD for this junk, which would be funny if it weren't so sad...and what about service or a warranty? Forget it! And that is exactly what these buyers need.
Be that as it may, I hope GoPro can get its act together again. It would be a shame, even though there are currently a lot of really good action cams out there that are not cheap GoPro knock-offs. At iSHOXS, we are the best when it comes to mounts and service, and I hear that constantly from our customers. We are manufacturers ourselves and sell 95% "fresh from factory". That means we can keep prices affordable and have an accommodating service structure: No matter what gets broken, we repair 99% of the mounts on a goodwill basis, even after a crash. And people who buy knock-offs can only dream of that.
btw, that is not a Land Rover, the Picture shows a Land Wind. According to chinese manufacturer, the similarity of car and the logo to the Land Rover Evoque is only coincidental. They had wondered themself, the Chinese manufacturing explained in a statement, that there is such a similarity.
