How to Create a Business Budget That Covers All Your Expenses 💼
Running a successful photography business means knowing where your money is going! Creating a solid budget ensures you cover all your necessary expenses—like equipment, software, and marketing—while still setting yourself up for profitability and paying yourself first!! Here’s how to get started:
📸 List All Your Business Expenses: Break down your costs into categories like equipment (cameras, lenses, props), software (editing programs, subscriptions), and marketing (social media ads, website hosting).
📸 Track Your Income: Keep a record of all your revenue from shoots, digital products, and other income streams. This will give you a clear picture of what’s coming in each month.
📸 Plan for Recurring Costs: Make sure to include fixed costs like monthly software subscriptions, insurance, and rent, as well as seasonal expenses (like new gear or advertising campaigns).
📸 Set Aside for Taxes: Don’t forget to allocate a portion, I do 30%, of your income for taxes so you’re not caught off guard at the end of the year.
📸 Review & Adjust Regularly: A budget isn’t set in stone—review it monthly to track progress and adjust as your business grows or your expenses change.
📸 Plan Ahead: Be sure to plan for future expenses, like annual subscriptions, new gear, and emergencies, by saving for them in advance.
