Ten years ago, we said our vows. We also made a quiet promise to ourselves to keep celebrating, to keep showing up, to keep moving. Italy wasn’t in the plan when we first got married, but we made a promise to ourselves to get there. Our ten year anniversary seemed like the perfect time to do it. And now, every single morning we wake up here, neither of us can believe it’s real.
These absolutely stunning photos were taken by , who is not only our chosen photographer, she’s also a dear friend. She took our engagement photos. She was our wedding photographer. And in the ten years since, she is the only photographer who has ever photographed us as a couple. So when I mentioned that we wanted to take photos in Venice, not even expecting her to be our photographer, she said, “I’m there. I’m absolutely there.” We didn’t even ask her. She was just there. Hands down.
These photos took a village to hear me complain, doubt, and wanna call off the whole thing several times 😂 Thank you and .cadre for being my sounding board and my sanity while I figured out my life, navigated wardrobe issues, and for being my friends. 😘 Thank you for the last minute makeup tutorial! Love ya more than you know ❤️
When I think about being on the other side of the camera, it’s something I don’t take lightly. I know what it takes. I know it’s not easy. I know what goes into it. So when people ask me who takes my photos, the answer is simple. It’s someone I trust completely, someone I can fully be myself with, and someone my husband is comfortable with. When you put yourself in the right hands, the outcome speaks for itself.
Thank you, Liz, for documenting this chapter with us. Thanks to my virtual team for keeping me in check! Venice was unreal. I cannot wait to print these and put them up in our home.
