The laundry is dancing on the line, leaves are blowing through the yard, and a girl and her dog are heading home with a fishing pole in hand. I used blues and greens throughout this scene, with touches of yellow in the leaves, her hat, and the clothes on the line. There’s still a little daylight left to bring in that wash!

“Heading Home,” is an 11"x14" original acrylic painting on archival paper.

Two children, hula hoops waiting on the porch, and flowers growing around a pink sh***un house: "Go Ask Your Mama If You Can Come Outside and Play Today" offers plenty to look at, now on view at Dixon Gallery and Gardens.

I’m grateful to be included in “Mallory/Wurtzburger: 80 Exhibitions, 18 Years,” which brings together recent work by artists who have exhibited in these galleries over the years. My connection to the series goes back to “Voices of a New South” in 2009, when I showed alongside Twin, Kiersten Williams, and Anthony Lee. It’s a pleasure to be back and to see the range of work our Memphis arts community continues to create.

Thank you to the Dixon team for including me and for making space for so many local artists. I hope you’ll visit! On view through January 3, 2027.

Anthony Lee’s team is preparing to paint Madison Avenue at Avalon. The artwork was commissioned by UrbanArt Commission and created by Khara Woods. MidtownMemphis.org is proud to bring art to Midtown. Madison and Avalon will be closed today October 11, 2026.

My work is on view at Dixon Gallery and Gardens! I’m pleased to be included in “Mallory/Wurtzburger: 80 Exhibitions, 18 Years,” a group exhibition featuring artists who have exhibited in these galleries throughout the series.

As a Memphis artist, it means a great deal to share my work here at home. Thank you to the Dixon for including me and for continuing to support artists across the Mid-South.

The exhibition runs October 4, 2026–January 3, 2027. You can also mark your calendar for the Meet the Artists event on November 19, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

The post now says: While painting the artwork for My Cup of Tea’s tea box, I went back to the turquoise sky, leafy greens, yellow sun, and rust-red roof in "The Forgotten Red Hula". The second photo shows a little of where those colors are headed. I made a small study of the composition before starting the larger painting. It will be revealed October 14th at My Cup of Tea. I hope you can join us there!

There’s a big sun over Kirby Stationhouse, with flowering trees on both sides. That’s the scene I painted in Oh, Sunny Day, the artwork chosen for this year’s V&E Greenline ArtWalk poster. I lived nearby, at Snowden and McLean, for 15 years, so this is a neighborhood I know well. I’m glad to return as this year’s featured artist.

Come see me at the ArtWalk, Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kirby Stationhouse grounds, 1625 Tutwiler Avenue. I’ll be at booth B-8. Admission is free, and the 16″ × 20″ posters will be available at the V&E merchandise table near the stationhouse. I spent some time this past weekend signing them. Let's pray the rain will hold off!

Artwalk preparations are underway! I’m getting my booth together and will be signing posters before the V&E Greenline Artwalk. I’m honored to be this year’s featured artist. My painting Oh, Sunny Day is the official 2026 poster.

Clotheslines have appeared in my work for years. They remind me of backyards where something ordinary, like laundry moving between two houses, became part of the day’s scenery. In “Night Line,” I added Sam and filled the sky with stars, letting the familiar scene take on a life of its own.
