A video to follow my post of photos yesterday of part of the last day of competition at the World Aerobatic Championships at the Mason City/Clear Lake, IA airport this week. It is hand-held with a long zoom lens so a bit shaky in places.

The World Aerobatic Championships concluded at the Mason City/Clear Lake, IA airport this week. I went out the last day of competition to take a few hundred photos of the twisting, turning, diving and loop-de-loops as they competed individually. In some parts of their routine they had smoke trails to better see what they were doing. The teams included more than 35 of the world’s top aerobatic pilots, representing countries from around the globe

I was involved in an interesting photo project yesterday taking pictures of every fused-glass window pane at the Presbyterian Church in Mason City. It required a lift to get square on with the windows and telephoto lenses to get close ups. There are 1,408 individual panes and we took photos of groups of 6 or 12.
You can learn more about the fused-glass windows by artist Bob White here - https://fpc-mc.com/bob-white-windows/

A female Ebony Jewelwing damselfly. We saw several of these while paddling yesterday in a small tributary creek to the Winnebago River. The males have a very iridescent body but I didn’t get photos of those.

This Great Blue Heron was coming in for a landing, saw me in the canoe and made a quick bank to the right and u-turn to settle in a little farther ahead of me along the shore of the marsh. (Click or tap to see the whole image.)
