I could wax poetic about the energy of opening hunt every season, but this year felt particularly strong. Led by the founding women of the hunt, with a new huntswoman at the helm, this year kicks off the 38th year of the Tennessee Valley Hunt Club, for a season I will be referring to as “The 38 Special.”

The weather promised a lashing of rain and high wind (which came in sheets as we drove to Greenville), but by the time riders were mounting, the weather gave us a break.

We laughed, we cried, we ate and drank too much, and it was a joy to capture it all.

An extra post for this stunning bride and my sweet friend Niki.

She weaves magic into everything she touches (including my hair and that of so many others). Shes so magical that she was able to find her dream bridal dress at a local vintage shop that fit her ✨PeRFeCtLy✨.

Also, she had this epic smile plastered on her face most of the day. It was a joy to freeze these moments forever. 💕

I only took on one wedding this year, but it was one of the most beautiful days with some of the most beautiful people.

Niki and Ross, joined by their closest friends and family, celebrated their love and danced the night away at Seven Springs Retreats in June. The air was hot, the drinks were cold, and there was joy in every detail for this special day.

Niki and her vintage dress need their own post, but for now, I hope you can scroll through and feel the magic of the day. 💕 Love you crazy kids!

With a legacy as big as the thunderheads that loomed behind us in the Cove tonight, Maddie McCullough stands with four generations of Appalachian women around her shoulders.

We took so many amazing photos tonight, but the minute I hit the shutter on this one I knew it was something special.

I have a complicated relationship with social media, which isn’t a rare phenomenon these days. I have definitely been less present here lately, and struggled with the idea that I need to post to stay relevant. I’d rather be fishing.

But one good thing I can credit directly to this technology is the collective web of artists, makers, fisherwomen, and humans that I’ve turned into friends.

So when I had an unexpected chance to move one of those online friendships into real life, I cleared my schedule and packed my car, bound for South Carolina and Katie Cahn - Metalsmith.

Honestly, this was a colab I had dreamed of for years. Connected by our mutual love of flyfishing, Katie is my dream creative match! Being asked to photograph her pièce de résistance was an honor, and worth braving the suffocating evening humidity and chiggers. We had the best time frolicking with Hilary’s old man, who was the best horse model ever.

It was impossible to choose my favorite photo from this shoot, but I’d love to know which one you love the most!

Today was the first shoot day of the Unbridled Photography Retreat with my dear friend Kansas Equine Photographer - Olivia Long in the Utah mountains, and I couldn’t go to sleep tonight without sharing a couple of my favorite shots. Shout out to Jen | Barrel Racing Mom and her sweet boy Johnny Cash for waking up at the crack of dawn (really, well before) and meeting us on the mountain. In true cowgirl spirit, she pulled off both an elegant look and a rodeo queen without breaking a sweat.

Can’t wait for a full weekend of more!

One of my favorite engagement sessions to date.

Give me all the horses, flower fields, overcast June skies, and pre-storm breeze that I can handle! This session with Mady and Preston felt like a western romance fever dream, and it became one of those milestone moments for me as a photographer.

It’s now three years later, and I’m preparing for another milestone on Monday as I head to Utah for an epic adventure with my girl Kansas Equine Photographer - Olivia Long for the Unbridled Photography Retreat. For five days we will be shooting horses and cowboys and cowgirls in the most incredible locations, and I feel like this is going to change my life.

I’ll be sharing some moments from this trip while I’m out there, as well as putting my feet in a western river chasing trout, looking for wild horses, and recharging my batteries after the busiest spring season of my career.

Yippee-ki-yay!

With a birthday on Imbolc, it’s only right to share homage to the goddess that is .

I am MONTHS overdue on sharing from this collaborate creative session, but maybe I needed to wait till now to truly bask in the glow of how fabulous this was.

I stated a series last year called “Ritual” for women to captured in their power and beauty, and Hannah helped bring my vision to life with this at home bo***ir session.
