That is what I want for YOU and your family! One day, as a child, I had a sleepover at my favorite aunt’s home where I saw, for the first time, photos of her family displayed on the walls. We did not have family photos on our walls as a child, neither were there any photos of me. Because of this, I am disconnected from that time of my life and get sad when I see other family members posting old photos of themselves or their family saying, “Look how dorky I looked like as a kid!” Oh, how I wish I could say that. My self-esteem and sense of belonging have been impacted, and it makes me sad. When I became a mother, I made sure that this was not the case for my children because of the negative mental impact, and the sense of belonging from being non-existent has made me feel even to this day. I believe that by displaying portraits in the home, a child can internalize the sense of belonging and see that those in the family portrait are important to each other. They are a form of artwork that can be a window into their past. That is why I feel so strongly about creating beautiful artwork that will be handed down for generations.
