Two very important sayings came into play to make this image happen: 1) The best camera is the one you have with you (in this case, my iPhone) & 2) Look up.

I keep going back this week to look at this picture, and am thinking it would be great to go back to the Seattle Center in the next couple weeks sometime to recreate it with my “good” camera. But I feel like half the magic of the image is from the whispy, foggy clouds in the background (and about to roll in). That will be hard to replicate on demand.

Take the time to stop and appreciate the beauty of the lights and everything else this holiday season. It’s almost always worth it!

Saw a thing today where a photographer showed up for a family session only to find out they expected her to shoot a wedding instead, much to her surprise. Pretty sure the idea came from a top-ranking blog post on Google (I refuse to link it here). The article also mentions that vendors are really keen to offer discounts if you let them advertise at your event.

Let me just save you the trouble - this is terrible advice. Please don’t try these, because it won’t end well. (That photographer I mentioned? Demanded her full elopement rate in CASH before taking a single photo. Just FYI.)
