🏈 SWEET REVENGE! 🏈

After falling to Wheeling Park 33-28 last season, the Spring Mills Cardinals traveled back to Wheeling Park Friday night with redemption on their minds and they delivered! 💪🏾

Spring Mills came away with an impressive 46-28 victory behind some huge performances on both sides of the football!

🔥 Chris Williams: 22 carries, 162 yards & 3 TDs
🔥 Douglas “DJ” Mayer: 7 catches, 135 yards & 2 TDs
🔥 Jacob Long: 3 catches, 62 yards & a TD
🔥 Kheelan Curry: Interception returned for a touchdown
🔥 Jeremiah Wang: Forced a fumble
🔥 Jayson Johnson: Scooped up the fumble and returned it 33 yards

The Cardinals jumped out to a 14-0 lead, made key halftime adjustments, and their defense stepped up in a big way during the second half to help secure the victory.

The Spring Mills Cardinals are hitting the road tonight looking to start the season 2-0 but standing in their way is a Wheeling Park team that handed them a 33-28 loss last season.

And there’s some unfinished business. 👀

Last season, Brennan Wack rushed for an incredible 1,205 yards in Wheeling Park’s first five games, including 233 yards and 5 touchdowns against Spring Mills.

But this is a different Cardinals team especially defensively.

📸 Sideline Etiquette 101: A Guide for Young Photographers & Content Creators

As high school football season kicks off, we are seeing more and more incredible young photographers, videographers, and content creators hitting the sidelines. It’s awesome to see the next generation documenting the game!

However, with more media on the field, safety and professionalism have never been more important.

To make sure everyone from players and coaches to officials and fellow media has a great and safe experience, keep these essential sideline rules in mind:

1. Stay Off Your Phone & Out of Conversations
Focus on the lens, not your text messages. Holding conversations with players, coaches, or fans while the game is live is a distraction.
Players are locked in and focused on their assignments. Let them play without interruptions.

2. Respect the Refs & The Restricted Areas
Never block the officials. The referee's crew has a massive, fast-paced job to do. Never stand in their line of sight or block their movement along the sideline.

Stay behind the restricted line (and behind the coaches). Coaches need unobstructed communication with their team, and players need room to move. Never stand directly behind or crowd the coaching staff.

3. Keep Your Head on a Swivel
Football is a high-speed, violent collision sport. Plays frequently spill out of bounds.

Always watch the play. Do not stare exclusively through your viewfinder or chug along editing photos on your phone while standing live on the turf. Protect your gear, but more importantly, protect yourself.

4. Respect Your Fellow Media

We are all out there trying to get the shot. Communicate, share space, and avoid standing directly in front of someone who was already set up in a spot.

Keep your gear organized (bags out of high-traffic walking paths) so nobody trips.

Let’s keep the sidelines safe, professional, and respectful so athletic departments continue to welcome media out to capture Friday nights! 🏈🤝🏾
