I’m back home after being gone for a week! I spent the week at Great Lakes Institute of Photography (GLIP) learning the art of creating composites with an incredible teacher, Richard Sturdavent.

My goal going into this was to grow my skills in sports photography and compositing, and I can honestly say I learned more than I ever imagined possible.

It was challenging, and there were definitely moments I thought I may have bitten off more than I could chew… but wow, was it rewarding. My Photoshop skills expanded so much this week, and I left feeling inspired, motivated, and excited to create.

If you’re a photographer wanting to grow, learn, and challenge yourself, going to GLIP is something you need to do!

And what were the odds? In a group of fewer than 50 people from all over the country, I met someone who lives just a couple miles down the road from me. Such a small world.

I can’t wait to bring what I’ve learned back to Marquette and start creating more sports and composite images here at home. ❤️

has been such an amazing group to be a part of. They’ve been incredibly welcoming, and I’ve learned so much through these workshops. They’ve expanded my knowledge and creativity in ways I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.

This set with Ashton was created in a hotel hallway — proof that not every location needs grandeur. A little handheld light, natural light, and the right aperture can completely transform a scene.

To help tell the story, I asked him to portray someone finally at the end of a journey — sitting in reverie, feeling contentment, but still carrying the quiet “what ifs.” I think he captured that emotion perfectly.
