There is nothing like a family session on a cool September morning. This family met me at one of my favorite South Shore spots and within ten minutes the kids had completely forgotten a camera was even there. When should you actually book your senior session?

Quick answer: book six to eight weeks before you want your session date, earlier if you want a fall date since those go first. Longer answer, senior season runs March through October and my calendar fills fastest for September and October. If you already know you want fall foliage in your photos, reach out now rather than waiting until the leaves actually turn.

What to wear for your fall senior session.

One of the most common questions I get during planning meetings is what to actually wear. My advice is simple. Bring pieces that feel like you, not pieces you think a photographer wants to see. Rich colors like rust, olive, and burgundy photograph beautifully against fall backdrops. Avoid busy patterns and logos, since they pull focus from your face. Bring at least two full looks so we have options between locations. We talk through every outfit together at your planning meeting, so you never have to guess.

September is here, and so is my favorite stretch of the year. This session happened right as the evening light turned that soft gold color that only shows up in early fall. My client brought three outfit changes and about a dozen pose ideas, and that kind of energy makes my job so much fun. Not every fitness session needs to happen inside a gym. Some of the strongest images come from taking the session outside, using stairs, hills, or open trails as part of the shot instead of a mirror and a rack of weights. It changes the entire feel of the images and often makes people relax more too, since it does not feel like a typical gym photo shoot.

Once a date is confirmed, the contract is signed, and the retainer paid, I send outfit and prep guidance so you feel ready going in. Then we shoot, and your gallery follows within one to two weeks.
