Their late September fall wedding couldn’t have been more perfect for the both of them. The incredible softness of their color palettes matched her personality and heart all while complimenting Josh’s as well.

These two had so much heart behind the desire to be present with their loved ones and share their happiness with everyone around them. Joy was ever present all day for the two of them & I couldn’t have been more honored to be next to them through it all.

Don’t sleep on September, it truly is the most gorgeous time of the year for a wedding.

For the bride who wants her wedding to feel like her.

Maybe that means getting married on your family’s land.

Maybe it’s somewhere with wide open fields, old trees, or a view you’ve loved for years.

Maybe it’s not perfectly polished and that’s exactly why you love it.

I don’t think your wedding should look like everyone else’s.

I think it should feel like you.

The people you love.
The places that mean something.
The little details you chose because they matter to you.

And when you look back at your photographs years from now, I want you to recognize more than a beautiful day.

I want you to recognize your life in it.

In all honesty I’ve always loved photographing hands.

I remember being at my great-grandmother’s funeral, and my grandma leaning over and telling me how my great grandma always disliked her hands because they looked old.

I remember seeing her and looking at her hands and seeing how incredibly beautiful they were, because those hands had lived a lot of life.

They had worked cattle, held babies, cared for people, and carried a family through years of hard work. They had scars, bumps, bruises and the marks of a life well lived.

They weren’t something to hide. They were part of her story, a story I couldn’t get enough of And I think that’s why I’m so drawn to the story they tell.

Especially at weddings. A wedding day isn’t just about the hands of two people choosing each other.

It’s about the hands that held you when you were little.
The hands that raised you.
The hands you reached for when you needed comfort.
And eventually, the hand you choose to hold for the rest of your life.

That’s why knowing who is who matters to me.

I want to know the people who shaped your story. The relationships that matter. The ones who may not be standing at the center of every photograph, but are at the center of your life.

Because years from now, you may look at a photograph of their hands and remember an entire person.

Not just how they looked. But how they loved you.

And yes, I want your photographs to be beautiful.
But I want them to mean something, too.

There are many images of me photographing during weddings, but this one, this one will always stand out the most to me.

The amount of chats we had had about their wedding day were endless, the amount of trust they both put into me for their photography was the same. It started from the very beginning during their engagement session. Them taking the leap and driving from Milwaukee all the way beyond the Madison area to meet me. They were one of the first people to know about our move to Montana, the first to know about our second baby, and one of the first people to know about my journey back to Wisconsin. Along with the other couples during that time frame.

This photo was taken on their wedding day, while I was about 8.5 months pregnant and still at it. I remember reaching for her hand and saying “praise God! You did it!” Sharing in a huge hug, and just an immense amount of joy for them.

I can’t put into words how grateful I am for the clients that trust me with their big moments in life, but I also can’t begin to say how grateful I am for them holding my big moments close too.

Our time may be short together, or a life long journey & no matter what that looks like, your story forever holds a place in my heart.

I just am really thankful for all of this.

Before I photograph a wedding, I want to know more than your timeline and family photo list.

I want to know what matters. Who matters. What you chose intentionally. Why you chose the place you’re getting married. Which moments you’re already looking forward to. And what you would be heartbroken to realize wasn’t photographed.

Because I don’t expect you to know how every meaningful part of your wedding should be photographed. That’s my job.

My job is to take what you’ve shared with me, combine it with my experience, and pay attention throughout the day. Being present with you.

I’ll create photographs intentionally when guidance is needed. And I’ll step back when something meaningful is unfolding on its own. A lot of the times, images don’t need my help.

That’s why I believe wedding photography should be collaborative. The more I understand about you, the better I can recognize what matters when I’m there.

Your wedding shouldn’t look like anyone else’s.

And your photographs shouldn’t either.

It’s about the time again where the sun sets and creates the most magnificent orange you’d ever seen. A glow that is so undeniably radiant, it almost feels like you are in a dream. Wisconsin out does it self with sunsets in the summer, but in the fall, you can’t beat them.

It is truly the best time of the year, where I simply can’t get enough of what I do, for the people that trust me to do it.

There is nothing better than this, nothing. 📸
