My love of photography started when I was given my first “fancy” camera at the age of sixteen. At that time, my favorite things to photograph were flowers, trees, and forest trails. When my first niece was born, I found myself eager to capture her spunky personality through my camera lens each time I was able to travel to see her. When I arrived home after each visit, I found myself smiling ear to
ear as I loaded the photos I’d taken onto my computer. I was filled with joy as I re-lived our time together, and even now as I see those photos from so long ago my heart remembers so clearly and with such joy the times we had together. I realized very quickly the importance of always checking twice before leaving the house to be sure that my camera was packed, the battery charged, and memory cards well stocked. I started my business kind of by accident when a good friend asked if I would take some photos of her family at a local park. I was nervous since I had no experience in how to properly pose families and children, but once we began things flowed smoothly and I found that it was an exciting and truly unique time spent with this family. My friend snuggling her sweet little boy, a little girl running into her daddy’s arms, a couple in love surrounded by their sweet kids. I felt honored to observe and capture with my lens the sweet relationships in this family. After that day I realized what a gift it could be to give this family photos they could literally treasure for years and years. Apart from my business, I am a stay at home mom to three sweet kids, Quinn (5) Norah (3) and Graham (2). Another baby girl is due to arrive any day now! My husband is the Worship Arts Pastor at Door Creek Church on the east side of Madison and also the owner/designer of Pike City Design. I have a deep love for music and enjoyed six sweet years of teaching elementary music in Twin Lakes, WI before our first daughter was born. Having children of my own has made me even more passionate about photography. I find such value in taking snapshots of everyday life as well as the milestones that they experience during these short years. Photography is an art that I believe can deeply move us. Let me give you that gift that really will last for years to come!
