When photographing children, I believe parents should always have the final say in whether their child’s images are shared online. Being trusted to capture these special memories does not automatically mean having permission to post them.

Some families love sharing their photos, while others prefer to keep them private. Both choices deserve to be respected.

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here! Let me introduce myself. I’m Hiba, the photographer behind Lulu May Photography. I’m a labor and delivery nurse and nursing instructor by profession, but a creative at heart.

As a wife and mom of two, I know how quickly these seasons of life pass. After losing my parents, I realized how few professional photographs we had together, and it completely changed the way I view memories and the importance of preserving them.

Capturing families, children, and the special moments in between has brought me so much joy. I love candid, lifestyle photography because it allows me to document genuine connections and relationships as they naturally unfold. Planning your little one’s first birthday session? Here are three simple tips to make it a success:

1. Schedule Around Baby’s Best Time
Choose a time when your child is usually happy and well-rested. A full tummy and a good nap can make a big difference.

2. Keep the Setup Simple
Neutral colors and simple outdoor locations help keep the focus on your baby and create timeless photos.

3. Embrace the Mess
Bring an extra outfit and let your little one explore the cake at their own pace. The messy, candid moments often become the favorite photos.

Bonus Tip: If your child is hesitant about the cake, try placing a favorite snack on top to encourage them to dig in.
