That’s the magic behind the Lakes Region Lantern Festival, happening tomorrow at the Center Harbor Town Docks in New Hampshire.

On October 23-24, one of New Hampshire’s most magical fall sights returns to the Lakes Region. The Laconia Pumpkin Festival brings glowing jack-o’-lanterns, live music, food trucks, costumed families, local vendors, and full-on October energy back to downtown Laconia.

The signature moment happens on Saturday evening, when the pumpkin tower lights up in Veterans Square and downtown suddenly feels like it is glowing orange from the inside out.

During the day, the festival fills the streets with family activities, kids in costume, music, food, art, crafts, and the kind of small-town fall scene people wait for all year. As night settles in, the pumpkins, lights, and crowds make the whole thing feel like one of those New Hampshire October memories you actually plan around.

The weekend begins with a Friday evening soft opening, then the main celebration takes over downtown Laconia on Saturday with the pumpkin tower lighting scheduled for 5:45 PM and an outdoor laser show later that night.

You can catch the kids’ costume parade, dog costume parade, Runaway Pumpkin race, Rubber Duck Race, Wicked Witches performances, live bands, dance showcases, a juried craft and art show at the historic Belknap Mill, food trucks, vendors, and family activities throughout the day.

For one big Lakes Region fall tradition to put on the calendar, this is it: arrive in the afternoon, wander downtown, grab something warm to eat, and stay long enough to watch the pumpkin tower come alive after dark.
