A teacher friend of mine spotted a heart on a tree at Stix last night during the Chloe Kimes concert. After the incredible concert, I was able to make this cell phone image of the heart ♥️

“Two of a Kind” - I got in my truck this morning to head to the gallery and spotted one pileated woodpecker banging on a dead tree in my backyard. I grabbed my camera, my Sigma 60-600mm lens, and my gimbaled head tripod, and quickly went to work. As I was getting set up, a second pileated woodpecker showed up. Then both birds were on the ground in front of me banging on a massive fallen tree. Before I could get a shot, they flew up into a healthy tree. The setting was ideal. The adult male on the left and the juvenile male on the right both had a dark background and also had nice morning light hitting them. A photographer’s dream! Nikon D850. F6, 1/500, ISO 6400. 60-600mm lens at 420mm. On a tripod without a flash. 8:43am on August 11, 2026.

I am running for the Ludington Area School District Board because I believe every student deserves the opportunity to succeed in a safe, supportive, and academically strong school system. As someone with an elementary education degree and experience serving as president of three local boards, I understand the importance of strong leadership, fiscal responsibility, and listening to the community. I believe in transparency and open communication, supporting our teachers and staff, preparing students for both college and careers, and making sure neurodivergent students have the support they need to thrive. Most importantly, I want to continue to improve an amazing school district our students, families, staff, and entire community can be proud of. Please get out and vote on November 3rd.

Last night this contrail passed directly through the sun and made it look like the plane crashed into Lake Michigan after blowing up. Crazy merger and illusion. I am obviously glad that did not actually happen! I shot this with my iPhone off my dad and Debbie’s deck at their home.
