Our employee, Josh Immel, captured this incredible image in Ludington a few nights ago. Here is what he wrote:

Power Overwhelming

I was driving back home from hanging out with a friend near Manistee and I could see the sky being illuminated by bolts of heat lightning in the distance. I got back into Ludington and immediately made my way to a park on the Pere Marquette Lake, got out my camera and waited.
At first, there was minimal action, and most of the lightning was hidden behind some low clouds. I was getting ready to give up and head home, but something told me to wait. 5-10 minutes later, the storm began to kick up, and the low clouds began to dissipate. Huge bolts of lightning began constantly streaking across the dark sky in an immense show of power, and I was right underneath it. I remember just laughing out loud as I took exposure after exposure, energized by the adrenaline rush I was getting from all the lightning. It was a chilling, but thrilling experience. Among the exposures, I saw this on my camera screen and knew right then that this was the winner. - Josh Immel
