Here’s a stunning master bathroom I photographed recently. When you compare the ‘’Before’’ and ‘’After’’ photos, you can clearly see how harsh the ambient light is in the ‘’Before’’ image.

For the ‘’After’’, I introduced multiple flashes: one above camera, two side-light flash composites, and two shower pops.

I then blended the flash exposures with the ambient light to create the final ‘’Flambient/After’’ image.

The ‘’Flambient technique’’ can take a little longer on-site, but the level of quality it delivers for my clients makes it completely worth the extra time.

It’s all about controlling the lights, balancing the scene, and creating an image that showcases the space. That’s exactly what my clients deserve—and what they should expect from every real estate photoshoot with me.

If you compare both photos, it’s clear that ambient light on the “Before” photo doesn’t give a sense of what the true colors are. I introduced flashes and spread the light equally to the kitchen in the back as shown on the “After” photo. Now the true colors are obvious. As my mentor Nathan Cool says: “When you control the light, then you control the image.” So true. The difference here is powerful. More than that, my clients love an image that shows the complete space. This one definitely does show it all!! Love what I do and what I learn everyday.

With Real Estate Photography, I want to show each room as well as how the rooms flow from one to another. Here’s a shot taken from a bedroom showing how the laundry room, the hallway and the entrance are all conjoined. “Show it All”

Twilight photography in Real Estate is one of my favorite things to do but it’s very challenging. I have just about 10 to 12 minutes to capture everything before it’s too dark. Here’s a beautiful backyard with pool and whirlpool bath. This was designed by the very talented Sidra Franklin

Now, here’s a great example that shows how ambient light is fooling our eyes. Take a second to compare de colors of the wooden floor, the walls, the rug, the couch, the exquisite view… Without the “ Flambient “ technique,” (using flash) , I wouldn’t have a chance to bring the color looking like the “After” photo!! Even High-End “HDR” edit wouldn’t create something looking like the “After” photo. Only flash can bring the real colors.

Relying only on ambient light for interior real estate photography could be a complete nightmare. Using flash seen on the “After” photo eliminates all the bad color cast and brings the image to life. I blend the Ambient light with flash and it creates a “Flambient” image. No matter how simple or luxurious the property, I approach my work with the same artistry and enthusiasm!!!

Make sure you scroll to the next photo here. Love to create a mini journey to a potential buyer when I shoot real estate. Here’s a single point perspective of a very high-end home in Bel Air. That would be the feeling of walking towards the main entrance door immediately followed by what you would see after you open the door from the outside. It’s great to see all the way through the house while bringing our eyes to the outside backyard at the same time. Just a very fun effect and it shows space. One of the most important things in real estate photography.

😮Ambient light alone is not enough to bring justice to the real colors of this room. That’s why I chose the “ Flambient “ technique for my clients because they deserve the very best on every photo I create.
