but really : Federal authorities arrested , a man pretending to be a player who allegedly defrauded $1.3 million from 26 women in a romance scam, reported ESPN.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the District of Oregon and court documents, the FBI arrested Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, on Aug. 24 in Boise, Idaho, and charged the duo with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.

Love and Chan reportedly began their scheme in February 2022 with Love meeting multiple women through dating apps. Love created “fictitious personas,” in those dating profiles and on social media, habitually presenting himself as a member of the 49ers or a wealthy real estate investor.

In an effort that spanned over four years, Love would meet the women online with Chan posing as his financial adviser.

Love convinced many of the victims they were in sincere romantic relationships with Love, that he was a sophisticated investor, and that Chan was his investment adviser who helped Love grow a fortune worth tens of millions of dollars,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office statement said. “Love had romantic relationships with many of the victims and told them he wanted to build wealth and a future together. Love advertised nonexistent investment vehicles and claimed these investments would generate massive returns for both him and his victims.”

Love also used apps to create fake bank and investment accounts and balances, which he would show to victims to “legitimize the scheme” said the statement.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Love would block communications with women once they either ran out of money or asked too many questions. None of the interviewed victims said they received any money for their investments, repayments or any account information.

Financial records show Love and Chan received about $1.3 million from the 26 victims the FBI identified, though the Feds believe there are “many more victims.”

The duo were arrested at the Boise airport are in currently in federal custody in Boise.

Aspiring rapper was arrested on and charged in connection with a multimillion-dollar check-cashing scheme on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The rapper, real name Ada William Obayuwana of Quartz Hill, along with two others, were charged in a 25-count federal grand jury indictment alleging that they illegally possessed more than 50 stolen U.S. Treasury checks and hundreds of other checks belonging to individuals and businesses totaling more than $8.1 million. The indictment further states that they then cashed or attempted to cash them at lenders throughout Southern California.

The other two defendants were identified as Albert Tai Vu, of Westminster, and Cassandra Marie Murrillo, of San Diego.

According to the indictment, between April 2022 and December 2023, the three obtained the stolen checks, including tax refunds and veterans’ and Social Security Administration benefits, then forged endorsements or modified names and addresses to steal the money.

The defendants are accused of opening bank accounts to receive the money. They also used business documents to impersonate the identities of the victims connected to the stolen checks and deposited the money into bank and credit union accounts across Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties, says the indictment.

AC allegedly tried to cash at least three Treasury tax refund checks worth $382,109 and was successful in cashing one, withdrawing $229,109, alleged federal authorities.

In December 2023, AC “possessed in his car in Oceanside more than 100 stolen or fraudulent checks, cumulatively worth more than $6.1 million,” states the indictment. Among the checks were 48 stolen Treasury checks valued at about $2,555,417 in tax refunds, veterans’ benefits,and Social Security benefits.

Federal investigators say he was able to cash at least eight of them worth about $1.7 million.

AC is currently in federal custody and charged with nine counts of bank fraud and faces three counts of delivering stolen Treasury checks and one count of aggravated identity theft.

BLYTHEVILLA, AR — An trooper violently pulled the dreads of a Black man and punched him in the face during a traffic stop in Blytheville, earlier this month.

The encounter occurred on August 19 at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Arkansas 18 following a pursuit that began after the police reported clocking a 2023 Infiniti QX50 traveling 82 mph in a 60-mph zone near the Big Lake bridge.

The officer, identified as Trooper Theodore Henderson, is seen on police video assaulting a backseat passenger, 23-year-old Tedrick Washington, after smashing the rear window of the SUV truck.

According to reports, Trooper Henderson activated his emergency lights, prompting the driver to accelerate up to 130 MPH. Henderson wrote that he traveled up to 140 MPH to catch the vehicle.

police officers reportedly deployed spike strips during the pursuit but to no avail. Henderson reported using a second TVI to push the SUV over a curb near North 16th and West Walnut Street, immobilizing it.

Henderson reported seeing the driver, 25-year-old Adonerus Johnson climb from the driver’s seat into the back seat and attempt to leave through a rear door. He was Tased and taken into custody.

Henderson reportedly then turned his attention to Washington, who was seated behind the driver. He was ordered to exit the SUV before breaking the window with a baton.

Video shows Henderson ordering Washington to crawl out the broken-glass window, while he simultaneously pulls his dreads, punches him in the face and pulling his arm through the window.

Washington was reportedly taken to the ground where he further resisted arrest and repeatedly reached for his waist and was punched a second time.

Washington was later charged with obstruction of governmental operations and resisting arrest.

The driver was booked on allegations of felony fleeing, first-offense DWI, reckless driving, resisting arrest, speeding more than 15 mph over the limit, improper passing on the right, failure to stop at a red light, no seat belt and unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a felony.

Samuel Monroe Jr., the actor best known for his roles in “Menace II Society” (1993), “The Players Club” (1996), “Tales from the Hood” (1996), “Set It Off” (1998) and more, has passed away at 52, according to TMZ.

Monroe had been hospitalized for several months after battling meningitis. His family previously shared that the infection had been misdiagnosed before eventually spreading to his brain and spine. His condition later became complicated by MRSA pneumonia, seizures and other serious health complications.

His mother, Joyce Patton confirmed his passing today, August 27. Monroe Jr. was 52.

OAKLAND, CA — Residents in an community celebrated the arrest of a man go was accused of assaulting two women.

Video shows a woman picking herself up off the ground as bystanders allege that he had just put his hands on her. Later in the video, he is seen swinging at a second woman on his way to his apartment. It’s unclear if the second woman was struck in the face.

The man was eventually arrested by and was met with an applause by residents as he was taken into custody and placed in the back of a patrol car.

Details surrounding what led to the altercation and the alleged assaults are unknown at this time. It’s also unclear if this was a domestic violence situation.
