The most ridiculously “controversial” debut at GNRS in 2023. Pure bad-assery shot on film at a very slow shutter speed on a Hasselblad in a very crowded space. Some builds are destined for legendary status. This is one of them…

A magical moment with the Rolling Bones Circus. It’s blurry and a bit magical to me as it’s exactly how I remember this moment. It was a fantastical sunset on the dry lake bed with everything included that makes this moment really special to me.

THIS, to me, is what this is all about. I often look for some kind of meaning and purpose with my work and time and time again I keep coming back to this – people.
At The Race of Gentlemen in Santa Barbara in 2019 I was walking down the staging lanes and I saw this gentleman. I was caught in the depth of his gaze, his life and experience showing proudly on his face. There was a peace and quiet confidence about him and I was captured. We didn’t say anything. I just held up my camera and shrugged my shoulders. He nodded slightly, I brought my camera to my eye, carefully focussed, and not wanting to intrude too deeply in his private moment, I shot one frame of film.
Every time I see this photo it moves me. In a world that seems to be filling more and more with division, hate, unkindness and the unending pursuit of “winning” and monetary gain I am reminded of the finiteness of humanity and life. Without life, what else matters? Whatever anyone may say, YOU are irreplaceable. I hope to see you on my travels and am lucky enough to make a photograph of you that might make others take just a moment and see the magic that I did.
Please be kind, please be patient, please be thoughtful and please remember to look and SEE people around you. Without each and every one of them this world would be a really boring and uninteresting place.

Lemons and lemonade. This shot is the result from the lemons thrown at us in 2022 at Bonneville Speed Week. The Rolling Bones Circus and I had some grand plans for races, photoshoots and hangouts but a surprise torrential rain put these dreams underwater. I’LL BE SHARING THE BEHIND THE SCENES (BTS) DETAILS FOR THIS SHOT AND GIVING AWAY A PRINT TO ONE LUCKY PERSON ON MY PATREON PAGE. All you need to do is join the page (it’s free) and add a comment on the BTS post there. I will choose one commenter and send a print of this poster as a thank you for being a supporter. Slow down, see and experience. These are words that I’m working to apply to my daily life. Life is moving so quickly and it seems that the things that the world wants you to see and focus on push you to buy stuff and to divide us all. No thank you.
This is a moment of El Mirage sunrise magic. Driving to the SCTA course in 2022 at sunrise I saw this moment and had to stop and spend a few minutes just to see and feel the moment. There were no engines running, no cars flying by, no “influencers” flogging products and absolutely no stress whatsoever.
This photograph won’t get much attention and that’s too bad. Not because it’s my photograph and that it’s pretty special to me, but because so many of us have forgotten how to slow down, see and experience the amazing people and moments that are still happening all around us. Social media is not reality.
Those of you that have experienced a sunrise at El Mirage can probably imagine this moment. The beautiful silence. The smell of the morning air. The morning light gently painting the mountains and lake bed in slow motion. This is the magic of life.
Don’t miss the next SCTA meet and the magic of El Mirage at the SCTA Season Opener on May 16th & 17th, 2026.

I don’t shoot color film often but when I do it’s because of moments like this. Sunrise at El Mirage and the coolest Tudor you’ll ever see. Kodak film and Hasselblad for the magic combo.

I had to walk away from editing yesterday because I obsess. I can spend hours and hours tearing apart a single image looking for ways that it can be better. One of the ways my ADHD exhibits is perfectionism. This can make it really difficult to ever get any work done or to ever be satisfied with my work. When I walked away from my desk yesterday this image was on my screen and I didn’t think much about it. The rest of the evening, every time I walked anywhere near where I could see my screen this image kept catching my attention and the obsession began. It took me a while to fall in love with it but it finally caught hold of my imagination and I dodged and burned until I was finally satisfied. There’s no AI, no filters, no fakery here. If I’m 100% honest it’s a lot of luck and just being in the right place at the right time – another gift from the photo gods. You should see this photograph printed large. Damn it it’s cool. 😎
