Two filters in one, and they finally work independently.

Variable ND and polariser in the same filter is not new. What's new is being able to move one without disturbing the other.

On most combo filters, rotating for glare control also shifts your density, so you end up chasing exposure every time you adjust reflections. The True Color VND/PL separates the two. Set your stops, then dial polarisation to taste. Neither touches the other.

One filter that controls your exposure and your reflections, without making you choose between them.

The True Color VND/PL gives you 1 to 5 stops of variable ND and a polariser in the same filter, adjusted independently. Hold your shutter angle in bright light, then dial polarisation separately to deepen a sky, saturate foliage or kill a reflection off water or glass. Neither adjustment disturbs the other.

What that means in practice:

Keep a cinematic shutter speed while your aperture and ISO stay exactly where you set them
Shoot wide open in bright conditions, or drag the shutter for motion effects
True Color rendering across the whole 1 to 5 stop range, with no cast on RAW or LOG
No vignetting on full-frame lenses as wide as 15mm
One filter instead of a stack, so less to carry and less to go wrong

A Hasselblad sensor records detail that most cameras never see. Anything you put in front of it has to earn its place.

A UV filter is the cheapest insurance a lens will ever get. But on a 100+ megapixel system, the wrong one costs you the exact resolution you paid for. Soft glass, uneven surfaces and reflective coatings all show up when the sensor is that unforgiving, which is why a lot of Hasselblad shooters go without one entirely.

Your whole filter kit now takes up less bag space than a spare battery.

The last 49MAG post was about what fits your camera. This one is about what the filters actually do.

Four looks, one adapter ring:

• FS ND: cuts the light so the shutter can stay open long enough to empty a busy street, or so you can hold the aperture wide open in daylight.
• True Color CPL: takes the glare off water and wet roads and puts the depth back in a hazy sky, with no color cast.
• Yellow, orange and red: for black and white the old rules still hold, each one pushing the sky further from the clouds.
• Film Glow Diffusion 1/4: highlights bloom, neon halos, and skin softens without losing detail. Start at 1/4. It is subtle enough to leave on.

They all mount the same way. A slim adapter ring stays on the camera, the filter snaps on magnetically, then a short twist locks it so it cannot be knocked off. In a fraction of a second, one handed.
