The Revision is Worth It!

Today, I finished the action plan to restructure my memoir in response to beta-reader feedback. This structure will give more weight to the sections where engagement was highest, streamline the sections that dragged on, and reduce abstract spiritual content. Based on feedback, I am positioning the book as a survival memoir with spiritual dimensions. One part of me feels relieved to have completed this overhaul. Another part feels discouraged! I have many months of revisions ahead to produce a book that will reach a broader memoir audience. I am determined to keep going, even on days when I just want it to be over!

One Month of Revision -- What's Changed

Writing a memoir isn't just about remembering; it's about choosing which pieces of the past to leave on the page.

One month ago, I finished my beta reader feedback. I was deflated, overwhelmed, and left wondering if I'd wasted a year of my life writing the wrong book.

Today, I'm excited, clear, and ready to revise. I stopped defending my first draft and started learning from it. I've learned to let go of what no longer serves the bigger picture.
