Home movies prove people have always talked about other people.
Even in places built for silence.
Especially there, actually.

Mid-century Florida is more than sunshine. It is cabanas, poolside parties, beach hotels, roadside attractions, kids running into the surf, and a very specific kind of family vacation energy.

Our Florida Beach Culture collection covers 1950–1970 with home-movie footage from Jupiter, Miami, beaches, pools, orange groves, signs, and nights out.

Use it for travel stories, leisure history, tourism campaigns, documentary B-roll, or period sequences that need warmth without looking manufactured.

Storage planning is one of those production details that only becomes visible when it is too late.

We added a free Video Storage & File Size Calculator for production teams, post supervisors, and anyone handling archival scans or high-quality masters. Choose codec, resolution, frame rate, duration, and number of copies. The tool estimates file size, data rate, card speed, per-hour storage, and common workflow presets across ProRes, DNxHR, H.264, H.265, BRAW, RED, ARRIRAW, and more.

Why it matters: a project can be creatively ready and still get slowed down by drives, proxies, upload limits, and backup planning.

Run the numbers before the shoot, scan, or delivery:

The three seconds before the parade are often better than the parade.

People finding their spot. Police moving the crowd back. Kids leaning into the street. Storefronts, flags, cars, hats, signs.

That is where the city shows up before the performance begins.

Editors know this. The right archive shot is not always the main event. Sometimes it is the texture that lets the main event make sense.

In fifty years of home movies, I've learned one thing.
Nobody ever realizes they match the furniture.
That's what the footage is for.

Not the Strip. This Sahara is in the mountains, and a rhinestoned headliner played here. What year? Tell us in the comments 👇

Vintage visual data is hard to fake because the mistakes are small: grain, motion, color shifts, clothing, signage, street furniture, architecture.

Stockfilm now offers an AI training dataset built from vintage 8mm and Super 8 archival footage. The dataset includes 218,000+ clips, roughly 800,000 still frames, structured metadata, 399+ hours of footage, and coverage across 130 countries.

It is useful for computer vision, generative AI, temporal analysis, multimodal research, restoration, and cataloging projects. Teams can license custom subsets by decade, geography, format, or keyword.
