Backyard weddings will always have a special place in my heart. 🤍

This one was extra meaningful because it was for a close friend, surrounded by the people who matter most, right in their own backyard. No massive venue, no over-the-top production—just love, intention, and a space that already held so many memories.

One of the biggest myths about weddings is that you *have* to spend thousands on a venue to make the day beautiful. The truth? Some of the most emotional, intimate weddings I’ve ever photographed have happened at home. When you strip things back and focus on what really matters, the moments become even more meaningful.

A backyard, a few thoughtful details, and the people you love can create something truly unforgettable.

This was the day that changed the way I photograph weddings. I was bored and burnt out on photography in general especially the same cookie cutter poses and images I was taking on wedding days.

I began shooting 35mm film during the pandemic and it lit a fire that was frankly never there for me before in the medium of photography. But the thought of shooting it at a wedding was extremely scary and something I never thought I would do.

But I decided to bring two film cams along on this day (with my digital cameras as well of course) having never met the bride in person and not even mentioning that I was gonna shoot some film which was a roll of the dice but luck was on my side because that bride ended up being and what an absolutely perfect bride she was for this experiment. Her and her soon to be husband Liam were very trusting in me to tell their love story the way I wanted and I was over the moon when I had the film developed and got the scans back. The texture. The grain. The authenticity of light being exposed to a negative and the real chemical process happening, rendered images I’ve never seen from a digital camera.

Film has become the cornerstone of my photographic style, capturing real moments and documenting the day I see it. I’m looking for couples that value the medium of photography and don’t just want to be photographed but are interested making
art together on the most documented day in their lives.

Couple more since instagram sucks and won’t let you post verts with landscapes in a carousel w out butchering the crop. INSANE they haven’t fixed everything wrong about their image ratio format. But I digress. Hope you dig the images we created. 📸
