Been a While!

Visiting the Washington State International Kite Festival in Long Beach WA. Pretty cool stuff! Popular kites seem to be dragons, sharks, and whales. There are some great sand sculptures here as well. Here are a few to admire. -Bud

OOPS! I left out something from December. As the big storms were approaching the Washington coast, I thought I would travel to the SW Washington coast and check out some big wave/angry seas action at Cape Disappointment State Park. It's a hump to get down there from the house. It wasn't as exciting as I had hoped, but the photos speak for themselves. I stayed all day, and the sky cleared a bit for the sun to pop out. The waves grew a bit bigger as the day marched on.

Have you seen anything like this or bigger?

Another first for me, believe it or not, was the Pendelton Roundup and the Roundup Parade. I can now truly say this was my First Rodeo and really mean it when I say, "This ain't my 1st Rodeo!!!". Pretty exciting to watch those Cowboys and ladies compete doing cowboy and cowgirl things. I'd definitely go again!!!

What was your first Rodeo? How old were you, Cow Poke?

While we're on the subject of National Parks. I stayed in West Yellowstone for a couple of weeks end of September hell bent on some great wildlife photos. Well, to my surprise, many just weren't around (at least not for me) this time. I got a few, but not much. I'm just glad I got to visit.

Another Astrological event that occured was a visit from a rare comet known as 2024 Comet TSUCHINSHAN-ATLAS C-2023. I shot these while visiting Grand Teton National Park in October. I even got a glimpse of the Galactic Core of the Milky Way.

Do you remember Comet NeoWise in July 2020 when it passed near Earth?

Perhaps the greatest thrill I've experienced since my S-3 Arrested Landing on the Aircraft Carrier USS Coral Sea CV43 in 1982 has been attending the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta held the first Saturday in October for nine straight days. As a photographer, I get to be close and personal with crew, pilots, balloons, and entertainment for the entire event. The first day of my first Fiesta is a memory burned into my soul and will keep me going back as long as they'll let me. It's a Bucket List event that needs to be at the top of yours. AMAZING!!!

Hey all! Where did 2024 go? Where ever it went, I'm glad it's over!!!

I've experienced many things this year, so it's going to be a bumpy ride for a little while. Seen a lot, done a lot, and I've got a lot to share.
