I think this is one of the harder parts of running a creative business that nobody really prepares you for.

Every inquiry genuinely excites me. Someone found my work, connected with it enough to reach out, and now I get the possibility of creating something for them. That is SO exciting to me.

But it’s also nerve-wracking.

I want you to like me. I want you to feel comfortable with me. I want you to love my work. I want you to see the value in what I do and trust me with something incredibly important to you.

And when it doesn’t work out, navigating that disappointment can suck.
Not because I think everyone should book me. You absolutely should find the photographer who feels right for you.

I understand that being on the other side of this is overwhelming. Especially when you’re planning a wedding and comparing photographers, pricing, styles, personalities, availability… there are SO many decisions.
You don’t owe me a booking.
I just want you to know there’s a real person on the other side of that inquiry.
I’m not a robot behind a camera.
I get excited when you reach out.
I get nervous when we talk.
I care when you choose me.

And I’m genuinely honored when you trust me.
Because photography isn’t something I can completely separate myself from.
It’s my creativity.
My livelihood.
Something I’ve worked incredibly hard at.
And a huge piece of my heart.

So if you decide I’m not your person, that’s okay. Truly.
Just know that if a photographer seems really excited when you inquire, there’s probably a reason.

We care. A lot. 🤍

And when you choose me, you aren’t just a paycheck.
You’re someone I genuinely want to give an amazing experience to.

I think we’ve reached a weird place in the photography industry where being seen has become synonymous with being good. And I don’t think that’s fair to couples.

There are photographers with huge followings who are genuinely phenomenal at what they do. There are photographers with tiny followings who are phenomenal at what they do.

The number doesn’t tell you which one you’re getting.
Your follower count doesn’t tell me how you’ll treat a couple when they’re stressed.
It doesn’t tell me whether you’ll answer their email.
It doesn’t tell me whether you’ll follow through.
It doesn’t tell me whether you’ll listen.
It doesn’t tell me whether you’ll be kind.

And now that AI can create polished videos, voices, images, personalities and “expert” content, I think it’s becoming even more important to look past the performance.
Because your photographer isn’t going to live inside your Instagram feed.
They’re going to be standing beside you on one of the biggest days of your life.

So yeah.
Maybe I suck at social media. 😂
Maybe my Reels will never go viral.
Maybe I’ll never figure out what works on TikTok

But I know how to take care of people.
I know how to communicate.
I know how to show up.
I know how to make photographs that feel like you.
And after a decade of doing this, I’ll take being a good human and a trustworthy photographer over being internet famous every friggin time.

**Your wedding isn’t happening on Instagram.
It’s happening in real life.**
That’s where your photographer needs to be good.

I will always be an advocate for unhurried portraits.

And that doesn’t necessarily mean you need a whole separate day like these two cuties chose to do at the Capitol. It can simply mean building enough breathing room into your wedding timeline to actually enjoy your portraits together. But if portraits are really important to you? A separate session is such a good option.

No rushing. No watching the clock. No trying to squeeze everything into the 20 minutes your timeline gave you. Just time to be together, get dressed up again, and make photographs without the pressure of the wedding day happening around you.
There are so many ways to build a wedding day that gives you more of what you actually care about. Your wedding photos shouldn’t feel like something you had to hurry through. They should feel like time you got to keep.

There’s something really special about being invited back into someone’s life over and over again. 🤍

I met these two when they were still in college, and since then I’ve gotten to photograph so many of the biggest chapters of their lives. It’s been a privilege to celebrate graduations, their proposal, engagement, bridals, wedding day, their first baby, and now this sweet season as they get ready to welcome baby #2.

That kind of trust means more to me than I can really put into words. I don’t take it for granted that I get to watch families grow from behind my camera and somehow become part of their story along the way. When I asked Lauren if she had any inspiration for this session she said “ We love to visit our neighbor’s donkeys” And obviously, that got my wheels spinning. Now I feel no session is really complete without sharing carrots with your favorite neighbors. 🥕🐴

THIS. This right here is why I want to be your forever photographer. I want to know your people, remember your story, photograph the babies, the growing families, the ordinary little moments, and keep showing up for every chapter you’ll let me be part of.
And to all my past couples: you can always come back. I offer maternity sessions and family photos for past clients anytime you need them. It would be such an honor to keep documenting your family as life keeps changing.

The biggest benefit of bridals isn’t the photos.

It’s the confidence.

Almost every bride tells me they’re nervous about being photographed. After a bridal session, they walk into their wedding already knowing what to expect, which means they relax faster and enjoy the day more. The beautiful portraits are just the bonus.

This session is your personal dress rehearsal.

You’ll learn how your gown moves, practice walking in it, figure out where to hold your bouquet, and experience what it’s like being photographed before the emotions of the wedding day.

Things brides have said after their bridal session:

✨ “I’m so glad I changed my lipstick.”

I’ll always be a private vow fan.
Not because your guests don’t deserve to hear your love story, but because some moments feel different when it’s just the two of you. No pressure. No trying to hold it together because everyone is watching. Just you, your person, and the words you’ve been waiting to say.

One of my favorite moments from E+J’s day was this right here. Just two people in love, who stole away a moment in the shade to tell each other how much they loved each other.

The odds of finding your person are honestly insane.
Out of billions of people, somehow you find the one person you want to do life with. And I get the absolute honor of documenting the moment you say, “yeah, it’s you.”

I’ll never get over how wild and beautiful that is.

The quiet vows, the shaky hands, the tears, the little moments in between. Those are the moments I feel the luckiest to capture. 🤍

They were both a little nervous about this session.

Which honestly makes total sense. Most people aren’t used to having a camera pointed at them for an hour, and “engagement photos” can sound a little intimidating when you’re imagining a bunch of awkward poses.

So we started somewhere that already felt like *them* We went to one of their favorite bars, drinks in hand, pool table involved, nerves? Gone

Little by little, they forgot I was even taking photos.

That’s something I really want couples to know before booking an engagement session: **you do not need to be comfortable in front of a camera before you show up.**

That’s my job, love.

I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’m also paying attention to the little things happening naturally and encourage those moment too.

By the end of this session, the groom told me he wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but he had so much fun.

Honestly, that’s a pretty dang good review. 😂

So if you’ve been putting off engagement photos because you’re worried you’ll be awkward… you’re exactly the kind of couple I want to photograph.

Still kickin it with some of the coolest seniors around. Here’s a little throw back to the fall since these cool mornings are sticking around.

Senior sessions, for most of us, mark a huge life transition and can be one of our first times in front of a camera for a professional shoot. What I love about my seniors, both high school and college, is that they have a clear understanding of who they are, what they want to pour their energy into, and how they want to change their world around them. They have all been so focused on kindness and love and creating a legacy that trails after them and empowers others to create community. I’m always so proud to be around this sort of hungry energy and it always makes for really fun and relaxed sessions.
