Happy World Photography Day. A day to celebrate the art, craft, and science of photography. Something that has changed my life forever. I am forever thankful for the moments that I have captured over the years. To celebrate, I'd like to share an image that I captured a few nights ago. The Northern Lights, Milky Way, and faint SAR arc above Good Harbor Beach, where Good Harbor Creek meets Lake Michigan. 10:53 p.m. on 8/17/26

Here's a few favorites from Leland's 4th of July Fireworks over Lake Leelanau for America's 250th birthday. I hope everyone had a great Independence Day.

All single exposures photographed in bulb mode to capture the trails of the fireworks too. Shutter speeds range from 12 seconds to 31 seconds. Canon R6 with Canon RF 24-105mm at 105mm.

I've been a little quiet on here but since it's International Dark Sky Week, posting one from the archives to celebrate.

The Milky Way over Lake Leelanau from a roadside park in the heart of Leelanau County. The beauty of the night sky along with various sources of light pollution from surrounding areas that often hinder our ability to observe the night sky. Dark Sky Week helps bring awareness to the impact of light pollution in our night skies. Please do what you can to help protect the night sky.
