Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas had some amazing weather again this weekend. Even the underground river came up and put on a show as well. That's Mt Wilson and Rainbow Mountain in the back there. I have another shot like this from a few years ago that has been in print circulation - one of my favorites I took with an ND filter around 10 years ago. This is NOT shot with an ND filter... I forgot it today. Buuuuut without the ND, this is a much sharper shot... We'll see if there is water there again tomorrow morning.

It's a proven scientific fact that rainbows that are horizontal to the ground are really fast leprechauns that stole a pot of gold from another leprechaun. The internet told me so, and you should believe this without any scientific references. Then spread this truth to everyone else you know after you read this.
If you look really close and zoom in on this 2nd image, you will see a leprechaun running. But you got to zoom in really well. And then the rest of the images are just the clouds from this storm that blew through Red Rock this weekend.

Mt Whitney and The Alabama Hills just before the mountain peaks were shrouded in clouds from Hurricane Rachel coming in. I was driving up Whitney Portal Rd and noticed all the clouds casting shadows and giving the view a great depth to the landscape...and I had to jump out and take a quick pic.

Reflections of the Inyo Mountains from Diaz Lake a couple weeks ago...when there wasn't really any wind... And the ND filter helps a little to give the lake a glassy look.
I rolled into Lone Pine a little late that day and I got to camp with some friends I hadn't seen in a while. I woke up to some owls whootin at 4am...which was pretty bad ass. I wasn't getting out of the tent though to attempt to take pics of them in the dark. But I did want to get a shot of the lake ...and why not with the mountains in the background.

I set out to Lone Pine last week to capture exactly this shot of a shooting star crashing down through the atmosphere above the Mobius Arch in the Alabama Hills. Mount Whitney and the Milky Way were in the background making an appearance as well.
It was actually a good time meeting a couple other photographers out there and shooting the s**t as well as the stars. One of the photographers lit up the arch with a very low light he had and I was fortunate enough to get this shot.

This shot didn't have a shooting star in it, but one of the other photographers out at the Mobius Arch in the Alabama Hills, California threw some light on the Arch. You can see Mount Whitney in the background on the right side of the Milky Way. There was a lot of light from the atmosphere, so this is a little desaturated astrophotography from my norm.

Hurricane Rachel's Rainbow over the Rainbow Mountains out at Red Rock Canyon Las Vegas yesterday morning. I got some great photos and video that I will post on here.
The mountains shrouded with some clouds and the sun was coming down through the rain. I used a polarizing filter on my lens and it made everything pop and become sharper with the rainbow. It also brought out the sunrays that were coming down through the mist from the rain.
