After a recent cross-country move with my wife, I decided warm and welcoming Laramie was the place to launch my own photography business. I never go anywhere without my camera as I have always been a “collector” of moments. I have found that nothing brings me as much joy as capturing those special moments for other people. Grizzly 610 on the morning of June 25, 2026. 610 is the daughter of 399.

Molly & I were in the Tetons for 36 hours for our friends wedding, so naturally, we spent every free minute driving through the pilgrim creek area, hoping for a chance at spotting 610. Sometimes we get lucky. Like the day in 2021 when we saw 399 and her 4 cubs in the what would be the best sightings of her that year. Or in 2023, when we watched 399 and her new cub playing in a meadow in the rain, which was also the best sighting of her that year. On that day, she and her cub also walked right out on the opposite side of the road as us when we were getting in our car (which made for the best photos I ever took of 399- and from our van). But sometimes, we come home from the Tetons without having spotted a single bear. So when you only have a few hours in the park, you don’t expect to get as lucky as we did. We woke up early on the morning of the 25th, and a storm was coming in. It was moody and cloudy outside, and this also makes for the best wildlife photography conditions. It also means that there won’t be many tourist in the park. We decided to do a loop through the park. But after an hour, and no sighting of even a bird, we headed out. And on our way out, I get a text from our friend that 610 and her two cubs are roadside just a few minutes from us. We get there and it is absolutely amazing what we got to spend the next 30 minutes doing. She was directly roadside beside our vehicles. Very smart bears, like 610 and 399, tend to raise their cubs roadside to protect them from male grizzlies in the back country (male grizzlies kill cubs). On that morning, we got to watch the cubs play, stand up multiple times, and we got to watch 610 interact with her cubs. It was incredible, and it was all under the best light with other wildlife photographer friends who love these bears like we do.

Such an epic property in the mountains of Jelm- about 30 minutes outside of Laramie. The main house has several different living room spaces, and 4 bedrooms. There is also a massive shop, and a cabin on the river- with a driveway down to it. Talk about recreation opportunities! This cabin sets right on the river and is surrounded by the most beautiful public spaces ⛰️🏡📸

Laramie is one of the only mountain towns that still has somewhat affordable housing, and every now and then a unique house like this hits the market at a good price. I post about 2 percent of the houses that I shoot- and typically when I think that they are worth it, with the knowledge I have of the market. And this one definitely is! Also, with the influx of people we are getting from out of state into our small town, I am pretty surprised that our housing hasn’t skyrocketed even more.

Personally, I am so thankful that we made the decision to move here, and so thankful to be a Laramigo- even though my accent still screams Kentuckian😜
