Kraken Studios is in Mix magazine! 🎧

We’re thrilled to be featured in the November 2026 issue of Mix, one of the most respected publications in professional audio. In the interview, Kraken Studios engineer Thomas Pell talks about the creation of our Dolby Atmos room and what it can do for local creatives.

Kraken Studios at South Puget Sound Community College’s Lacey Campus is home to one of very few Dolby Atmos mixing studios in the country that’s open for community use. Filmmakers, musicians, podcasters, and voice artists can work with our engineers or bring their own.

Ever wonder how late night comedy actually gets made?

Brian Kahn has spent his career writing and producing for television. He's a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, and the Television Academy.

His writing credits include Here and Now (NBC), Cousin Skeeter, Malcolm & Eddie, the animated series Duckman, and the original pilot Late Bloomer for Paramount. He was a writer-producer on The Daily 10 at E! Entertainment and contributed to The Best Damn Sports Show Period at FOX Sports.

As former Creative Director of Comedy and Animation at FOX Entertainment, he oversaw promotional campaigns and network specials for series including The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, Glee, House, 9-1-1, The Masked Singer, and Animal Control.

He's directed and interviewed everyone from Steve Carell and Bill Hader to Jon Hamm, Charlize Theron, Seth MacFarlane, Tim Allen, and Rob Reiner.

And he's offering a one-hour lecture on the anatomy of a joke for $25.

That's the cost of a movie ticket and popcorn for direct access to a WGA member with decades of comedy experience.

Whether you're an aspiring comedy writer, a filmmaker interested in comedy, or just fascinated by how late night TV works, this is a rare opportunity to learn from someone who's been in the room.

You've made a film. Now what?

Eric Gibson has sold and distributed multiple feature films—including Devil's Acid, Room 203, Cabin Girl, , and Incantation. He's a Louisiana native and active producer, writer, director, and actor who knows firsthand what it takes to get an independent film in front of audiences.

Most filmmakers spend YEARS learning film distribution the hard way by signing bad deals, losing rights, and watching their films disappear. This one-hour lecture could save you from that.

Eric will walk you through the reality of film distribution: what distributors look for, how deals actually work, what to negotiate, and what independent filmmakers need to know before they sign anything.

Filmmaker's Guide to: Screenwriting - last chance to signup! $25

Registration closing Friday 10/2

Every strong script starts with a plan. In this one-hour online session, instructor Jack Castellaw walks through the tools professional screenwriters use to build compelling stories: three-act structure, theme, and character psychology. You'll follow the story design process from logline to outline and learn the beginner mistakes that stall a script before it starts.

You'll leave knowing what the craft requires and what to do next with your idea. This session is also a preview of the full three-week Screenwriting Fundamentals intensive, where you'll build a working outline for features, shorts, pilots, and beyond.
