We are making a very important change to how Fable & Honey handles photographs of children.
WE WILL NOT BE SHARING IDENTIFIABLE PHOTOS OF YOUR CHILDREN WITHOUT EXPLICIT PARENTAL PERMISSION.
Not “we think it’s okay.”
Not “the photo is really cute.”
Not “we posted it because you tagged us.”
YOUR PERMISSION. YOUR CHILD. YOUR DECISION.
We are photographers. We have the privilege of documenting your families, your babies, your milestones, and the little pieces of childhood that you’ll want to remember forever.
But that privilege does not mean we are entitled to put your children’s faces on the internet.
Your children are not marketing material.
Your children are not content.
Your children deserve privacy.
This policy is being put into place because of a very real and deeply disturbing issue surrounding generative AI and the increasing ability to manipulate digital imagery.
A recent ruling from the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals addressed the First Amendment and private possession of AI-generated CSAM depicting fictional children to be legal.
And honestly?
That is enough for us to take this s**t seriously.
We cannot control what happens to an image after it exists online.
We cannot control what technology is capable of tomorrow.
We cannot control what someone else chooses to download, manipulate, scrape, save, or misuse.
But we CAN control what we willingly put into the public internet.
So we’re going to.
📸 IF WE HAVE YOUR CHILD IN A SESSION:
If you do not give us permission to share photographs of your child:
WE WILL NOT SHARE THEM.
If you DO give us permission, we will still prioritize protecting their identity whenever possible.
That means we will favor:
• Tiny hands and feet
• Details of outfits, shoes, toys, flowers, etc.
• Photos from behind
• Images where their face isn’t visible
• Images where their recognizable features aren’t identifiable
If there is any question about whether your child can be recognized, we will blur or completely cover their face before posting.
And if you tell us NO, we aren’t going to argue with you.
No guilt trip.
No “but it’s such a good photo.”
No loopholes.
No exceptions.
NO MEANS FU***NG NO.
🔐 AND YES YOUR GALLERY CAN BE PROTECTED TOO.
If you don’t want your children’s photographs freely accessible through your online gallery, TELL US.
We can password protect your gallery so that access is restricted.
If you have a previous gallery with photographs of your children and you now want that gallery password protected, MESSAGE US.
If you want a previous session taken down from our website, social media, portfolio, or other public facing location, MESSAGE US.
We will work with you to get it handled.
We are also going through our existing content and taking a harder look at photographs containing children.
Because this isn’t about engagement.
It isn’t about likes.
It isn’t about getting another pretty photograph on our page.
It is about protecting actual fu***ng children.
We would rather lose a photograph from our portfolio than knowingly contribute to a child’s identifiable image being unnecessarily exposed online.
So going forward:
Parent permission comes first.
Child privacy comes first.
Gallery privacy matters.
Identifiable images require permission.
And when in doubt, we protect the child.
We know not everyone will agree with this.
That’s okay.
You don’t have to.
But if you’re trusting Fable & Honey to photograph your family, you should be able to trust us to take your children’s privacy seriously.
Your babies deserve to be photographed.
They deserve to be celebrated.
And they deserve to have a say in how much of their childhood gets handed over to the fu***ng internet.
Love , the angry moms @ fable & honey. 🤍
