Normally I keep everything on this page strictly photography. I've shared a little more since we moved but still not a lot. Today I am angry. We went to move my mother's stuff from her assisted living facility that is closing to her new place. I had asked them not to touch her stuff and told them we would move everything. She has already moved to the new facility because she needed therapy to try to gain some strength. Between work and getting snowed in I havent been to the old place in 3 weeks (I have went to see her at the new place). I even told the old facility what day I would be there to move her stuff. Well we showed up today and realized they went thru her room. EVERYTHING! They had everything boxed up and ready to go. Even taken some boxes to the new facility. You would think I'd be happy for the help. However when I started looking thru the boxes I saw how they packed. They literally threw everything in boxes. When I say threw everything that's exactly what I mean. Trash, expired food, used kleenex, you name it. All mixed in and random. When someone worked their entire life for what they have and then have to get rid of most of it to move into a facility it's heartbreaking to them. She had a private room there and was able to have a little more. However, she is downsizing again due to having a shared room at the new place. Every item she has saved means something to her. So when I saw her favorite lamp broken I was angry. Then I found other things broken as well. Even a little ceramic blue and white dish that was my grandmother's. All her stuff thrown around and not one ounce of care used when it was packed up. My mother was a nurse her whole life. She was one that was there because she cared. It wasn't just a job for her. So to see this blows my mind. What happened to the nurses and Healthcare workers that truly cared? I realized they are overworked. She was too so I'm sure it isn't any better now. There is still no excuse for this. If you have family in assisted living or a nursing home pay attention. Stand up for them because they can't. I will start making calls in the morning and I promise they will know how I feel. She deserves better. This picture is all the trash that we pulled out of boxes still at the old place. We got about half of this amount from the stuff already taken over to the other facility. People need to do better.
