So you must be doing something right in the eyes of the Photography Gods when your first stop is to get a double buchi before you’re going to go out and take pictures and while you’re drinking said buchi you look up and see this in the sky above. It’s like Mother Nature was waiting for me and I’d like to thank her if she was. Happy Memorial Day and take lots of pictures people!

After running into my good friend Billy the other morning, who’s also the proprietor of this laid back shop and one of my all time favorite and aptly named ones, Coast, it reminded me of this image I captured a while back out taking early morning pictures. Everything about it defines Key West in a way. From the rooster, to the Shel Silverstein reference on the wall, the hanging bikes and of course the 90 Miles to Cuba sign, it slowly became one of my favorites. I hope you think so too.

One of my favorite things as a photographer and living down here at the end of the road in Key West is the what seems like endless supply of incredible images that I can capture on any given day. Like this one on a beautiful day of clouds that I captured walking to go visit a friend at their work and under 10 minutes from my house. I’ll be the first to admit, not the worst problem to have.

I found myself on the College of the Florida Keys campus on Friday needing to take a certification test for my job. After many late nights of studying and a huge amount of pre-test anxiety I not only passed it but this kaleidoscope like cloud filled sky awaited me afterwards as I walked out of the building. Prompting me to try and capture it and making my morning even that much better after I did.
