As you guys know, I like to promote our small, but mighty White Lilac Kenosha because of how unique I find it that we have a little storefront theater here in Kenosha.

And this weekend, specifically this Saturday, you have a chance to see Pat Byrne, who plays gritty Irish soul, taking to the stage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with tickets being $25 at the door (approx. $30 online with taxes and fees).

The Irish-born singer-songwriter's music has been described as "what happens when you combine the transcendent poetry of Bob Dylan with the gritty storytelling of Bruce Springsteen, plus the political fire of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger."

If that sounds like something you'd enjoy experiencing, you can find out more information about Byrne and get your tickets to Saturday's show at the link in the comments section on this post.

This story is the first in an anthology I am currently writing that focuses on my own identity and heritage as a person who is both Black and white, and things in between. While this is a work of fiction, each part is inspired and features aspects of very real stories I’ve been told of my family and other Black and biracial people throughout my life.

'Slavery or Swamp' is the first story in an anthology I'm writing concerning issues of heritage and identity with my biracial existence.

Good morning/afternoon, Kenosha and surrounding areas,

Today, the Kenosha area has a little something for everybody, whether they’re a musician, writer, dancer, crafter or just someone who appreciates all of those art forms.

Hear about the 10 things you have to choose from for a night out in Kenosha this Thursday — including a show at a secret location featuring Ben Mulwana, Haley Klinkhammer and members of Violet Wilder that only has about 10 tickets left, at least when I talked to Ben about this morning.

All available event links are in the comments section of this post.

And remember:
Saint of Sixth is completely funded by paid subscribers and donors from the local community. Help fund Saint of Sixth’s work by donating on my site at the link in the comments.
