When the tide comes in on Star Island, the swimming area near the pier is the perfect place to cool off. The water here was clear enough to see the bottom when the depth was over my head. Plus the protection of the pier and rocks of the harbor help to help those visiting great whites away.

Sunflowers follow the sun each day, east to west. The oldest sunflowers stay facing east. The popular bird buffet forms the Fibonacci sequence. Perfect nature math. Even if petals are missing, even if the seeds are sparse, the flower is still perfect. And so are you.

Happy Sunday funday everyone. It’s supposed to be beautiful here in Maine. Plus the leaves have already started changing ::::squeeeeee:::::

Thursday night 8/27 at 10:33pm, the first bites of the dark shadow covering the moon appeared. Here in Kennebunkport, Maine, our maximum view was 96% covered at 12:12am 8/28.

The moon is generally tough to photograph. It doesn’t produce any light. It reflects the sun’s light back to us against a pitch black sky. Eclipses even more so with the reddish orange hue and cloud cover.

The bright lights of The Clam Shack Sign aligned perfectly with the direction of the moon and ended up being a favorite of the evening.

Have you tried their lobster rolls? Omg. Plus this time of year, you have a chance of a more reasonable line or call ahead which is what I normally do. 🥰

On tonight’s episode of will the moon be seen or clouded out, clouds mostly win. Epic sunset though!

Cloud cover may have made viewing of the near-total lunar eclipse difficult in Maine, but a local photographer was able to capture a picture of the blood moon.

Lunar eclipse over Kennebunkport tonight. Found some flowers in lobster traps in the foreground. It all depends on perspective. This eclipse season has been strong!

Please enjoy a glimpse into the lunar eclipse last night. It was a strong one.

I didn’t get a chance to photo tonight’s full moon, so in honor of the legends we lost this week, I’m posting a photo of our past legends: the Fish Shacks.

Taken as one photo. The focus is around the boats with a f9, iso 100 and 1/8 of a second. Lightened in Lightroom and moon darkened just a bit.

A must see for New England photographers before the historical stormy seas of January 2024 washed them away. They were built back in the late 1800s and unfortunately cannot be rebuilt, but we hold on to the photographs and memories of times past.

Happy eclipse eve! Friendly reminder to charge your batteries, clear your sd card, and turn the stabilizer off!!

Before arriving on Appledore Island, we went by some islands with seabirds and other marine life making their summer homes here. Gray and harbor seals bopped up and down peeking at us through the waves. The surprising thing was the Northern Gannet! I’d only seen them on the puffin tours out of Cutler, Downeast Maine, so getting home and editing photos, I was like what the heck?! Actually caught more than one of these beauties out here!🥰🥰🥰 These are white seabirds that look like seagulls to me while far away. These babies can have a wingspan of over 6 feet!
